Your Role:



Millipore Sigma in Jaffrey, NH is seeking an Environmental Compliance Specialist for our manufacturing facility. The plant manufacturers filter membranes and filtration devices supporting life science research and pharmaceutical production. The facility includes 300,000 SF on 52 acres. Operations extend across three shifts. There are many regulatory, industry, client and corporate program and requirements under which the plant operates. Compliance with these requirements is essential for success. The subject position is responsible for compliance with environmental aspects of these requirements.


Site Inspections:


  • Monthly above ground oil storage tanks (SPCC) and NHDES annual outsourced inspection

  • Quarterly Stormwater Industrial Multi-sector General Permit (MSGP), including sampling

  • Stormwater Construction General Permit inspections (Training Certification needed)

  • Weekly inspection for Groundwater Protection

  • Periodic sampling for site Legionella Assessment Program



Reporting & Submittals


  • Monthly reports to Jaffrey Wastewater POTW

  • Quarterly Reports to Jaffrey POTW

  • Annual Report to Jaffrey POTW

  • Quarterly EPA NetDMR submittal of stormwater sampling results

  • Annual Stormwater MSGP report

  • Quarterly NHDES submittal of water use and discharges

  • Annual Tier II submittal to NHDES and local emergency responders

  • Annual EPA TRI chemical use submittal

  • Annual NHDES Air Permit submittal

  • Annual NHDES RTAPs report on file

  • Biannual Hazardous Waste Disposal submittal

  • Jaffrey Industrial Wastewater Discharge Permit Renewal Application

  • Off-site disposal facility Hauled Waste Receiving Permit Renewal Application

  • Corporate annual environmental data gathering

  • Corporate reporting for ISO 14001

  • Regulatory follow-up documentation for a release or non-compliance event



Data Collection


  • Obtain operations data from Industrial Wastewater Pretreatment Plant Operators

  • Obtain chemical storage and use data from Hazardous Materials/Waste Storage Facility Operators

  • Obtain information from Manufacturing operations for chemical use and product production

  • Obtain operations data from Facilities for Heating Plant (propane and wood fired) and diesel generator operations



Develop and Update Internal Documents


  • Contribute to Site Environmental Management System

  • SPCC and forms

  • SWPPP and forms

  • Wastewater Operations & Sampling Policies

  • Nitrogen Gas Policy

  • Refrigerate Policy



  • Coordinate with Site EHS leadership

  • Coordinate with Facilities for impacts from operational changes and maintenance shutdowns

  • Coordinate with Manufacturing operations for production changes impacts

  • Coordinate with Project Management on impact of significant capital projects



Support Small Capital Improvement Projects


  • Scope projects

  • Manage engineering consultant as applicable

  • Manage construction contractor

  • Comply with site policies and programs:

    • Management of Change

    • Health & Safety

    • Quality

    • Impacts to operations

  • Assigned training

  • Health & Safety

  • Quality




Who You Are:




Minimum Qualifications:





  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, etc.) or Life Science (Chemistry, Biology, etc.)

  • 3+ years of environmental compliance program experience with an environmental consultant, regulatory agency, or industrial facility




Preferred Qualifications:


  • Proficient computer skills



  • Licensure and/or professional certification credential (Hazardous Waste Management, Wastewater Operations, Environmental Engineering, Project Management, HAZOPER 40 Hour, OSHA 10 Hour Construction)
