The Chief of Staff is a pivotal leader within the organization, serving as the CEO's strategic advisor and operational coordinator. This role ensures seamless alignment between executive priorities and organizational operations while managing key administrative functions and cross-departmental initiatives. As the senior operational leader, the COS will oversee office operations, facilities management, volunteer engagement, human resources and the thrift store, ensuring all areas function efficiently to support the organization's mission. This role is central to fostering collaboration, ensuring operational excellence, and supporting organizational success.
Key Responsibilities: • Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO, managing executive priorities and ensuring alignment with organizational goals. • Coordinate executive communications, ensuring clear and effective information flow between the CEO, departments, and external stakeholders. • Act as the CEO's liaison, representing them in internal and external meetings as needed. • Facilitate the preparation, coordination, and follow-up for board meetings, including agenda setting, presentations, and reporting. • Lead or support special projects as directed by the CEO, ensuring timely completion and desired outcomes. • Develop and maintain effective systems to track and report organizational performance metrics. • Supervise office staff, including the Office Manager and Receptionist, to ensure smooth day-to-day operations. • Oversee facilities management, including maintenance, security, and logistics, to maintain a safe and efficient working environment. • Manage the Manager of the Thrift Store, providing operational guidance and oversight to ensure strong financial and programmatic performance. • Supervise the Volunteer Outreach Coordinator, fostering engagement, recruitment, and retention of volunteers.
Qualifications:
Master's degree in Nonprofit Management, Public Health, Public Administration, Social Work, Business Administration, or a related field.
At least 5 years of leadership experience in operations, project management, or executive support within nonprofit, corporate, or government settings.
Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams and drive operational efficiencies.
Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to synthesize and present complex information effectively.
Strong project management skills, including prioritization, delegation, and follow-through.
High emotional intelligence and ability to build trusted relationships across all levels of the organization.
Preferred Experience:
Familiarity with intimate partner violence, sexual assault services, or related fields.
Experience with nonprofit compliance and reporting.
Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
Work Environment:
This position combines office-based work with external engagements. Flexibility for occasional evening or weekend events is required to support organizational needs.
