REPORTS TO: Directory of Bakery Finance/Controller
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the 37th Street Bakery raw material, trial materials, bought in finished goods and supplies purchasing. Ensures continuity of production by making sure that materials are purchased at the correct times at negotiated prices in the proper quantities.
Job functions including, but not limited to:
1. Manages day-to-day supplier partnerships to achieve best in class relationships which allow the bakery to ensure continuity of supply and to meet targeted strategic goals such as annual cost savings and payment terms related goals.
2. Purchases raw materials in accordance with Master Supply Agreements and Outline Agreements. Ensures Supplier compliance with all company policies and procedures including individual material specifications, certificates of analysis and delivery instructions.
3. Tracks contract balances and notifies supervisor of any shortages or overages.
4. Reviews future orders with supervisor weekly (at a minimum). Understands supplier lead times and orders accordingly without bringing excess materials into the bakery.
5. Attends daily scheduling meeting with Materials Management team and bakery packaging buyer.
6. Onboards new suppliers and obtains documentation for new materials from existing suppliers obtaining all required Quality Assurance information.
7. Resolves supplier quality issues and processes supplier claims.
8. Orders QA, Sanitation, and other miscellaneous supplies according to existing contracted prices and sources (wherever possible).
9. Sources/orders materials for new product development on time including providing proper documentation and logging samples in the sample tracker.
10. Other duties may be assigned as business necessitates.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Experience in the bakery/food industry preferred; 2- 5+ years of plant buyer experience; bachelor's degree; advanced Microsoft Excel skills; ERP system experience; strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Traditional Office Setting (sit for extended periods of time with writing or computer/typing required)
2. Onsite requirement on a permanent basis.
3. Support of operations - able to stand, walk and manage stairs multiple times throughout the day.
4. Willingness to research procurement related issues in the bakery and cold storage locations.
