Job Summary

The Training Specialist provides command-wide expertise and serves in an advisory role in all aspects related to Expeditionary/Amphibious Warfare education and training. These services encompass course/curriculum design and development, curriculum maintenance of Expeditionary Logistics, Expeditionary Fires, Fires Support Marine Pipeline, Marine Amphibious Raid, Tactical Air and Joint Fires Programs of Instruction, training systems and training management support, instructor development and evaluation, and in-service training across a diverse and complex training environment.


Specific Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement training programs and curricula to meet the needs of the EWTGP Learning Standards Department (N9).
  • Conduct training sessions, workshops, and seminars for Students and Instructors at various levels.
  • Assess training needs through surveys, interviews with employees, or consultations with managers.
  • Design and create training manuals, online learning modules, and course materials.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Maintain records of training activities, participant progress, and program effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure training content is accurate and up to date.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in training and development.
  • Provide support and guidance to employees regarding training and development opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards in training programs.
Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Extensive USMC/USN instructor knowledge based on a background which includes graduation from the Navy and Marine Corps basic instructor courses and curriculum development courses.
  • Extensive experience working with curriculum in an integrated Navy/Marine Corps training environment.
  • Performed as an Instructor with Expeditionary/Joint Fires experience with specialized experience as a Curriculum Developer, Curriculum Administrator, and Instructor.
  • Ability to enter curriculum into the Authoring Instructional Material (AIM) and the Marine Corps Training Instructional Management System (MCTIMS) authoring systems.
  • Knowledge and ability to train military instructors in the use of command-directed authoring systems (AIM/MCTIMS).
  • High degree of judgment, resourcefulness, originality, and the ability to foresee the impact of changing technology on Programs of Instruction.
  • Ability to represent the command at various conferences and meetings on matters under the cognizance of the N9 Learning Standards Directorate and in support of the command mission and goals.
  • Ability to operate independently, planning, scheduling, and executing projects and programs, and must have the capability to deliver professional, complete, accurate, and standardized instructional products.
  • Ability to translate tasking into specific actions and execute them in a manner that achieves the objectives within scheduled guidance; must possess the ability to perceive emerging problems and have the initiative and knowledge to take appropriate action.
  • Ability to enter data and run reports from Navy and Marine Corps training databases (Corporate Enterprise Training Activity Resource System (CeTARs) and MCTIMS).

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Garrison work environment including but not limited to:
  • Occasional extended working hours will be required.
  • Schedule M-F 0600 to 1800, limited to 40 hours per week

Travel Requirements

  • Must be able to occasionally travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft (less than 5% of the time and most often (but not always) within a 50-mile commuting distance to support training at bases within the Southwest region).
