Job Description:

Worcester Eisenbrandt (WEI), a leading historic restoration construction company, is hiring experienced Masons to work in the Maryland AND DC areas.

Job responsibilities:



  • Construct or repair masonry surfaces or structures, as needed.

  • Prepare surfaces with great attention to detail prior to bricklaying.

  • Lay building materials, including concrete and brick, with precision and skillfulness.

  • Lay blocks or bricks following blueprints, plans, or drawings.

  • Create a layout using chalk lines, plumb bobs, tapes, squares, and levels.

  • Mix cement using hoes, cement-mixing equipment, and/or hand tools.

  • Cut or break bricks and concrete using hammers, powered abrasive saws, paving breakers, drills, and/or hand tools.

  • Mixing sand with cement and water to obtain proper consistency.

  • Smooth out mortar and remove the excess with trowels.

  • Mold expansion joints and edges using edging tools, jointers, and straightedges.

  • Perform finishing masonry duties, such as installations, mixing mortar, and parging.

  • Erect staging or scaffolding as needed.

  • Install all work plumb and level.

  • Erect wooden or metal supports to hold repair in place during setting time

  • Erect story poles for correct wall layout.


Requirements:



  • Good hand-eye coordination and arms in carrying, installing, positioning, and loading/unloading materials.

  • Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your entire body, such as balancing, climbing, lifting, stooping, walking and handling of materials.

  • Wearing respiratory protection and common protective equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and hard hats are required when at the job site.

  • Knowledge of and skill in the methods and techniques used in bricklaying and stone masonry.

  • Basic math ability in area, volume and weight.


Qualifications:



  • Minimum of two to three years' experience of general masonry.

  • Must have own basic masonry tools.

  • Must be able to travel to various job site locations.

  • Must be able to climb and maintain balance on scaffolds and ladders, lift and carry objects weighing up to 70 pounds.

  • Experience working on historic properties is helpful.
