Position Summary:

Reporting to the Associate Director of Analytics, the Data Analyst works at an experienced level supporting Rice University's Office of Enrollment. The Analyst will assist with collecting data, analyzing data, and presenting findings. The Analyst will be dedicated to helping with the informational and reporting needs of the Enrollment Division.

Workplace Requirements:

This position is offered as a hybrid role, combining both in-office and remote work to provide flexibility and support collaboration. (Insert hybrid schedule). Per Rice policy 440 , work arrangements may be subject to change.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Business, Information Technology, Computer Science or bachelor's degree and some computer course work.
  
  
  • Will not accept experience in lieu of the education requirement.
  
  
• Two years of experience in collecting, managing, analyzing, and reporting data.

Skills :

• Demonstrated statistical ability
• Familiarity with statistical programming: Stata, SAS, R
• Experience with tools such as Microsoft Office (Access, Excel), SQL Server, and Tableau.
• Demonstrated ability to produce data in a clear and understandable manner meeting user requirements
• Ability to manage multiple activities in a deadline-oriented environment; highly organized, flexible and rigorous attention to detail
• Ability to use logic to calculate data; efficiently construct a database or scrutinize the form of a question
• Ability to work effectively with multiple internal and external customers
• Strong listening, verbal and written communication skills

Preferences:

• Higher education experience with student information systems.
• Knowledge of data management concepts, tools, issues, and environments such as relational databases, application development, data/statistical analysis, and model development.
• Experience with a customer relationship management tool or an admissions system (preferably Slate by Technolutions).

Essential Functions:

Data analysis for strategic decision-making and external reporting.

Understands business processes and procedures and makes improvements with technology resources.

Under limited guidance, assesses and produces relevant, standard, or custom reports

Serves as a resource for non-routine inquiries such as requests for statistics or surveys

Applies technical judgment to work assignments to achieve desired outcomes.

Data collection and management.

Leads the implementation of data standards and common data elements for data collection

Takes lead when interacting with other IT professionals to ensure data integrity between systems.

KPI Dashboard Design and Implementation

Monitors and analyzes reports to meet strategic, operational, and enrollment goals.

Collaborates with stakeholders to standardize and systemize routine reports, dashboards, and metrics

Additional Functions

Assist in preparing presentations and graphics supporting the Office of Enrollment.

Training & Support:

Educate and train staff on data tools, data analysis best practices, and using data to inform decision making.

Serve as a resource for on data interpretation, predictive modeling, and leveraging dashboards for continuous improvement.
