Our client is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Sr. Oracle Database Administrator (SQL) to join our team.
Responsibilities: • Provide the daily leadership, scheduling and assurance that all routine and ad hoc project management/scheduling, system administration and IT infrastructure processes are handled to satisfaction for the Database Administrators • Assists in coordination of all maintenance activities that may impact SQL Server or Oracle • Supply other managerial functions to team and with guidance from Operations Manager, such as performance reviews and metrics, coaching/consulting, personnel task assignment, in- and out- of cycle reporting and status of team's activities and/or issues. Support and assure adherence to all corporate and client site policies. • Responsible for the security and management of Database systems in non-production and production environments across 2 physical locations • Solve complex integration and technical problems in a highly available, dynamic fast-paced enterprise environment • Act as a Senior Database Administrator directing team members to ensure all requirements are delivered in an efficient, highly productive manner on over 100 virtual and physical nodes; over 200 instances and countless Oracle and SQL Server databases • Provide technical support for the day-to-day SQL Server activities of the organization • Provide technical Support for chartered Projects, e.g. Security Remediation, Disaster Recovery • Recommend and Implement database changes to improve performance and security • Plan, coordinate, and implement security measures to safeguard databases • Research and create documentation for FISMA/STIG findings and waiver requests • Measure database performance, capacity and troubleshoot complex database issues • Configure and monitor interfaces with other systems • Configure and maintain system databases, user databases, server instances, schema, tables, views, functions, triggers and indexes • Configure and manage system and database user IDs and group permissions, database backups and recoveries • Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot peer-to-peer database replication and AlwaysOn Availability • Assist Windows System Administrators with basic Windows Failover Cluster configuration and management • Assist Windows System Administrators with basic Windows Disk Management • Create and update Configuration Item documentation, Standard Operating Procedures and Installation/Upgrade Guides • Work with other DBAs, Systems Administrators, Network Administrators, Storage Administrators, Enterprise Security Team, Backup Administrators and application developers to resolve various system issues
Qualifications: • Enterprise level SQL Server administration of replicated, highly available enterprise environment • Security focused mindset experienced with large scale enterprise deployments of applications, patches and security updates across a diverse multi customer environment • Knowledge of basic Windows, Linux, Storage, Network and Backup concepts • Efficient at T-SQL and Batch scripting • Experience installing, configuring, securing, and optimizing SQL Server Databases in a clustered, physical and virtual environment • Experience with High Availability, Always On and Data Replication technologies as related to SQL Servers • Experience writing and debugging scripts in PowerShell • Ability to create and maintain documentation reflecting the current operational environment • Excellent communicator, both verbally and written, with an ability to understand and discuss highly technical subjects to multiple levels of internal and external leadership. • Requires 24x7 on call support on a rotating basis • Microsoft's MTA, MCSA, or MCSE, or replacement with SQL Server focused certification is a requirement.
Education: • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or technical discipline with 7 or more years related professional experience. (Education can be substituted for 10 years of experience).
Preferred Qualifications: • Familiar with Spotlight, SolarWinds or some other type of SQL monitoring • Familiar with SQL database clustering in Windows environment • Familiar with SAN storage for SQL and Oracle databases • Familiar with Oracle Database configurations and management tools • Familiar with VMWare concepts • ITIL Certification
