One of our large architectural and engineering services clients specializing in worldwide design of secure, mission-driven facilities is seeking a remote Fire Protection Project Engineer to join their growing Life Safety team within Fire Protection to support their team in Glen Allen, VA and Lexington, KY. This role is a full-time permanent opportunity and training is provided. The Project Engineer will need to be able to manage engineer systems on medium-to-large scale projects and/or provide full engineering responsibility on smaller scale projects with limited guidance from more senior engineers. They will partner with senior engineers to generate project/task vision, resolve challenging problems, and to ensure and verify successful trajectory of deliverables. Other responsibilities include:
Create and edit project documents to include Drawings (CAD / BIM), Specifications (editing and checking) and support documents (basis of design).
Develop a more thorough understanding of the intricacies of sprinkler and fire alarm systems. Gain more experience in the interpretation of building and life safety codes and standards.
Perform engineering calculations using full suite of software tools.
Develop ability to direct designer staff in production of drawings & details. To include marking-up and redlining drawings for others and assuming ownership of delegated tasks.
Support construction phase contract administration activities such as Submittals, RFI's, construction support, etc.
Qualifications:
Bachelors or Master's Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline or Fire Protection preferred
6+ years' of experience in Fire Protection for commercial building design
PE is required
Must be eligible to obtain a security clearance.
Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and CAD/BIM/Revit proficient
Salary: $135,000 - $170,000 (flexible based on experience)
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
