Our offshore wind client is seeking a Grid Engineer specializing in low voltage systems. The Grid LV Design Electrical Engineer is a critical role within the Business, focusing on the delivery of large-scale offshore wind projects in the US. Belonging to the Grid Team and reporting to the Grid EPC Director, the Grid LV Design Electrical Engineer will be responsible for implementing robust and cost-effective engineering strategies, plans, specifications, tendering, negotiating and managing low voltage systems design, supply and installation contracts, planning and implementing delivery sites and logistics, complying with company and business engineering standards and technical acceptance criteria, and ensuring quality, best practices and excellent Health, Safety and Environmental performance are applied. *NO C2C PLEASE*
Responsibilities:
Provide expert advice on LV electrical systems, to ensure that cost effective technical solutions are identified, fully evaluated and the technical risks are fully understood by the project/business.
To support the front-end engineering design of all relevant project packages to ensure that LV systems comply with business procedures and specifications.
To prepare contract specifications for LV systems ensuring they comply with project and business requirements, country specific codes of practice, laws, regulations, and standards.
To review detailed design documentation and drawings to ensure compliance with contract specifications and legal requirements.
To lead the quality audit of electrical installations while onshore in fabrication yards and factories to ensure compliance with contract specifications and legal requirements.
Review of documents, drawings and data submitted by Contractors to ensure compliance with contract and project requirements.
Desired Skills:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering discipline (7 to 8 years of low voltage design
experience through work in power generation, renewables, transmission or distribution networks sector).
Extensive knowledge and experience in auxiliary & LV electrical equipment and cables including the following LV design aspects: sizing (auxiliary transformers, auxiliary generators, power cables, LV control cables, LV switchgear, etc.), performing arc flash studies, lightning protection, automatic fire detection systems, ITS communications systems horizontal cabling, security detection systems, LV protection design).
Offshore experience preferred.
Ability to understand complex engineering and construction information.
Proven ability to work in a highly skilled team environment and independently.
Solid grasp of engineering and work control of large-scale project delivery.
Previous use of industry software such as Amtech Pro Design/Dialux/Hevacomp to validate submitted contractor outputs.
