Come work at PVP Advanced EO Systems., a leading firm in our industry in the Southern California area. We design and build gimbaled systems for surveillance, border monitoring, and troop protection that include daylight cameras, infrared cameras, lasers and more. We are looking to hire an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to help us keep growing.
The primary focus is to pull together requirements and ensure gaps in customer requirements to product output are eliminated. Project management is expected, but minimal compared to technical understanding and contribution to design and test of systems. Software command and control of electromechanical systems is involved, and experience in this area is a benefit.
Responsibilities for Mechanical Design Engineer • Prepare calculations on the design before completing technical drawings. • Sketch and draw up designs using input from engineers on the team and/or customers. • Calculate factors like tolerance, dimensions, thermal, and structural analysis. • Create designs in line with company procedures, regulations, and customer needs. • Submit drawings to upper management and assembly teams. • Use customer feedback and data to upgrade, improve or repair the company's existing designs. • Provide support during the assembly and test process, ensuring that the machine is built properly and according to design specifications. • Finalize designs and send prints to the production department.
Qualifications for Mechanical Design Engineer • Bachelor's degree in engineering • 5+ years' experience in engineering role or related experience. • 5+ years' experience with CAD modeling using SolidWorks & PDM. • Experience with general drawing interpretation & GD&T knowledge. • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. • Excellent problem-solving skills. • Deep IT and CAD platform knowledge. • Strong computer and mathematical skills. • Experience designing industry-specific products. • Flexible approach to work and the ability to adapt to change. • Able to work in a team environment. • Self-motivated attitude and the ability to use initiative.
