PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Process Controls Engineer will specialize in the design, implementation, and optimization of process control systems focused on aseptic processing, concentration, and puree production. This role requires a strong background in PLC programming, automation, and familiarity with Ignition's SCADA software. This position reports to the Director of Engineering.

KNOWLEDGE OF:
  • In-depth working knowledge of various manufacturers, PLC and HMI hardware and software application.
  • Understanding of NFPA 70 National Electrical Code, NFPA 70E and effectively implement electrical projects using this code.
  • Working knowledge of process control systems including instrumentation and process control hardware, software, and methods.
  • Understand food processing, thermal systems, CIP systems, and packaging.
  • Knowledge of graphic arts.
  • Low voltage wiring, facility power distribution, electrical and controls panel wiring, instrumentation functionality.

ABILITY TO:
  • Manage and coordinate a variety of complex projects.
  • Ability to design and execute extremely complex PLC and SCADA programs, including analyzing, designing, coding, testing, and debugging.
  • Identify, research, and analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, and project consequences of proposed actions.
  • Understand and interpret specifications, maps, plans, and reports pertaining to complex capital improvement projects and plant expansions.
  • Use computers and computer software including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, PLCs, HMD, and SCADA programs.
  • Use computers and computer software including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and AutoCAD.

EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION/LICENSES, AND TRAINING:
  • A Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field is preferred, with a minimum of 4 - 10 years of experience.
  • Alternatively, a minimum of 15 years of experience performing system integration, project management, PLC/HMI development programming, process engineering, control systems engineering, or related.
  • International Society of Automation - Certified Automated Professional and/or Certified Control Systems Technician is highly desirable.
