Job Description:

Position Summary:

Our client, a fast-growing forest products company is hiring for a Senior Controller. The company's product mix revolves around products made from the forest and are mainly geared toward animal agriculture, pet and companion animals, fuels and horticultural markets.

Absolute Minimum Must Have's / Experience / Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

Experience: Minimum of 10 years of finance and accounting experience, including at least 5 years in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management & Reporting:
  • Oversee and manage all financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain robust financial policies and procedures.

Budgeting & Forecasting:
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, including preparation, review, and presentation to senior management.
  • Develop rolling forecasts to support dynamic business needs and decision-making.
  • Analyze financial performance against budgets and identify areas for improvement.

Internal Controls & Compliance:
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Ensure compliance with tax, legal, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate audits (internal and external) and implement recommendations as needed.

Cost Accounting & Inventory Management:
  • Oversee cost accounting systems to ensure accurate product costing and margin analysis.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to monitor and improve inventory management and production efficiency.

Leadership & Collaboration:
  • Manage and mentor a team of accounting and finance professionals.
  • Partner with department heads to align financial goals with operational strategies.
  • Act as a key advisor to the CFO and executive team on financial matters.

Technology & Process Improvement:
  • Optimize financial systems and tools to enhance reporting and operational efficiency.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to support growth and scalability.
