We are looking for enthusiastic, creative, and dedicated Summer Camp Counselors to join our team at Aspire Aerial. As a Camp Counselor, you will lead and supervise campers, guiding them through an exciting and diverse lineup of movement-based activities. You'll be integral to fostering a fun and positive atmosphere, helping campers develop new skills, and creating lasting memories. Each week, you'll work with campers on a new and exciting specialty, including Dance, Hip Hop, Acro, Cheerleading, and Aerial Arts.
Dates: June 2 - July 25 (No class the week of July 4th)
Hours: 8:30 am - 3:30 pm
Additional employment opportunities for after school classes as also possible!
Responsibilities
Supervision and Leadership:
Ensure the safety, well-being, and enjoyment of campers throughout each activity.
Lead and facilitate daily classes and activities according to the weekly themes.
Engage campers in creative, high-energy movement exercises and ensure they stay motivated and involved in all activities.
Activity Facilitation:
Instruct and demonstrate skills in dance, acro, cheerleading, and aerial arts.
Break down complex movements into manageable steps, offering personalized coaching and constructive feedback.
Ensure that all campers are participating at their level progressing safely and having fun.
Behavior and Safety Management:
Implement camp rules and guidelines to maintain discipline and create a safe, inclusive environment.
Address any conflicts or challenges with a calm, positive approach to ensure campers feel supported and respected.
Be vigilant and proactive in maintaining camper safety during physical activities, ensuring that all equipment is used properly.
Communication:
Maintain open and positive communication with campers, parents, and camp leadership.
Provide feedback to campers and parents, celebrating achievements and providing encouragement for growth.
Qualifications
Experience:
Previous experience working with children, preferably in a camp, dance, gymnastics, or fitness setting.
Passion for movement, fitness, and the performing arts.
Prior experience or strong interest in any of the following areas is a plus: dance, acro, cheerleading, or aerial arts (silks, hoop).
Skills:
Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate children of varying abilities.
Positive attitude, high energy, and a genuine passion for child development.
Comfortable leading group activities and adapting to different learning styles.
Knowledge of movement safety and the ability to provide proper guidance to ensure safe participation.
Certifications:
CPR and First Aid certification (preferred or willing to obtain before the start date).
Any relevant certifications (e.g., dance, gymnastics, or aerial arts) are a plus but not required. (Training will be provided)
A background check is mandatory for this position.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to engage in physical activities for extended periods, including dancing, tumbling, and spotting/lifting children on aerial equipment.
Ability to demonstrate techniques and assist campers with physical movements when necessary.
