The Business Analyst will serve as a key liaison between the Major Accounts Underwriting team and the Data & Analytics (D&A) team. This role requires a strong understanding of insurance processes, a passion for data and analytics, and the ability to translate business needs into actionable insights. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving key initiatives, adapting analytics solutions, and ensuring seamless collaboration across multiple teams.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Business Analyst:
Act as the primary point of contact for the Major Accounts underwriting team, facilitating effective alignment with the D&A team to ensure insights directly support business goals.
Gather business requirements by facilitating meetings and interviews with stakeholders from various functional areas within the insurance organization.
Conduct requirement analysis and documentation to identify and prioritize business needs.
Drive key initiatives by adapting existing analytics solutions to meet specific underwriting and pricing needs.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including underwriting, claims, sales, and marketing, to ensure data analysis aligns with business objectives.
Manage the triaging of underwriting requests to relevant teams (GDO, Claims, Field, Data Science) and oversee the overall status of ongoing projects.
Assist in first-mile planning, bridging the gap between business requirements and IT implementation.
Conduct last-mile planning to ensure data insights and recommendations are effectively implemented into business operations.
Foster collaboration between the Major Accounts underwriting team and the D&A team to ensure insights are actionable and aligned with strategic objectives.
Communicate business requirements and technical implementation details to IT teams and stakeholders.
Support a flexible approach to evolving needs within the Major Accounts structure by utilizing dedicated resources for timely and impactful solutions.
Engage actively in querying, analyzing, and interpreting data to inform decision-making and guide technology strategies.
Serve as a business analyst and portfolio manager by working closely with Major Accounts underwriters, understanding their requirements, and translating these to appropriate technology, data, or analytics teams.
As a Data Analyst:
Gather and organize data from various sources, including internal databases, insurance systems, and external data providers.
Clean, normalize, and preprocess data to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify trends and patterns.
Perform statistical analyses and develop predictive models to forecast insurance-related metrics (good to have).
Utilize data mining techniques to uncover hidden insights and anomalies.
Provide insights and recommendations based on data and analytics to support business strategy and decision-making.
Present findings and reports to management and other relevant parties.
