The Northwest Region of Ardurra is seeking an Environmental Planner to support our Environmental Services Group.


This role is anticipated to be fulfilled from our Spokane, WA or Meridian, ID office locations. However, for the right candidate any office location within the Northwest Region of Ardurra will be considered.


Position Summary


We are seeking an Environmental Planning professional to join our growing Northwest Environmental Division. In this role, you will complete a variety of environmental projects related to state, local, and federal laws and regulations. Strong technical writing and communication skills are a must, as this position’s duties will include preparing, editing, and writing various environmental technical reports.


The ideal candidate will have experience managing projects associated with the Washington State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) as well as National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), such as Categorical Exclusions (CATEX) and Environmental Assessments (EA). As well as experience preparing and reviewing environmental documents/permits that satisfy federal regulations such as the Endangered Species Act (ESA), Migratory Bird Treaty Act (MBTA), National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), and the Clean Water Act (CWA). Excellent written, communication, and computer skills and the willingness to work in both field and office environments on a wide range of environmental projects is required.

Key Responsibilities



  • Completion of NEPA and SEPA related documents and supporting technical reports and compliance documentation including, but not limited to; aquatic resource/wetland delineations, cultural resource investigations, Section 4(f) evaluations, environmental justice reports, air quality analysis, federally-and state-listed species and/or biological resources reports, NEPA documentation (CATEX, EA, etc.), and a variety of permitting applications (e.g., Section 404 permits).

  • Coordinate with local, state, and federal regulatory officials.

  • Collaborate with other environmental staff in document preparation, editing, and production.

  • Attendance at project meetings inside and outside the office including interfacing with clients.

  • Ensure projects meet regulatory requirements.

  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

  • Stay current on trends related to environmental laws and regulations.

  • Attend professional development opportunities to continue expanding your knowledge and skills.


Required Qualifications



  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Planning, Ecology, Biology or similar discipline.

  • 3+ years of experience.

  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.

  • Basic understanding of local, state, and federal environmental regulations and policies.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written), with the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of stakeholders, including engineers, contractors, government agencies, surveyors, attorneys, and various departments within many municipalities.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to identify and manage project risks and issues effectively.


Salary Range


$65,000 to $120,000 annually (DOE)
