Job Summary
Sr. Practice Assistant for BWH Endocrinology o Arranging new patient appointments and testing o Participate and lead team meetings with provider team lead, provide data metrics and recommendations to improve access o Train and mentor new staff o Coordinating follow up appointments and follow up testing o Obtaining prior authorizations for future testing o Prioritizing phone calls and messages via in-basket and/or outlook based on urgency o Rescheduling clinics to alternate dates based on provider availability o Arranging and opening P's/PA's and MD's schedules to work through any pertinent issues or complications o Answering patient messages / phone calls relevant to scheduling and forwarding to medical provider of clinical o Verifying that patient's insurances are accepted at BWH o If so, proceeding with scheduling o If not, working with insurance company to obtain authorization for out of network visits, ensuring appropriate hospital, BWPO is contacted to negotiate rate o Reaching out to supplemental departments to schedule patients for testing or consults with other specialties o Coordinating office visits with other appointments such as other departments, other facilities in the area, testing o Requesting records including paper records as well as imaging discs in particular format be sent to me for physician review o Arranging admissions for patients through our admitting department o Coordinating with other outpatient appointments o Contacting the patient to confirm their admission date, LOS, location, what they can bring with them, helpful contact information o Informing patient of any preparation instructions prior to outpatient testing o Contacting patients regarding appointments for confirmation o Rescheduling patients when needed and contacting them regarding the change of appointment o Requesting medical records and imaging be sent here for physician review



Qualifications


Level of education required: Minimum of a high school diploma or GED. Work experience required: Minimum three years' medical office or administrative support experience required. Some additional training in office systems or other post high school education preferred. Associate's Degree or higher level education preferred, but not required.
