Job Summary
GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:


A research technician position is available in the Anderson Group (http://wellman.massgeneral.org/faculty-anderson-pi.htm) at the Wellman Center for Photomedicine, Massachusetts General Hospital. Research will focus on developing a new technology for controlling heat transfer at the skin surface. Candidates with a background in materials science or engineering are preferred, but anyone with a curious mind and desire to help develop new technology is welcome to apply. This position is available for a one-year appointment with the possibility of extension.



Qualifications



PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares basic solutions and performs base-level procedures as assigned

  • Maintains laboratory notebook

  • Understands and applies basic scientific techniques

  • Conducts analysis of results and may begin interpretation of results

  • Sets up and prepares routine experiments as directed

  • Assists with organizing materials for publication or presentation






SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:


  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a collaborative, multidisciplinary research team



  • Desire and commitment to participate in translational research projects

  • Experience and expertise with materials science or engineering is preferred but not required.

  • Computer literacy

  • Working knowledge of clinical research protocols

  • Ability to perform multiple tasks independently






EDUCATION:


  • Bachelor's degree required.






EXPERIENCE:


  • New graduates with some lab experience (via course work, internships, etc.) or those without any prior research experience will be considered.
