Job Summary
Inpatient and Clinical Services is the department responsible for the overall operations at Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH) and Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital (BWFH). Working with all clinical and non-clinical leaders, the Program Manager of Inpatient and Clinical Services is responsible for supporting the global day-to-day operations and projects of the inpatient areas which can vary in size, function, and scope. This includes helping to coordinate operational issues with the Ancillary and Support Services through inpatient services as well as managing the day-to-day operations of the hospital departure lounge. This position reports to the Executive Director of Inpatient and Clinical Services for BWH and BWFH and has a matrix reporting at BWH to the Senior Medical Director of Clinical Operations and the Assistant Chief Nursing Officer.



Qualifications




  • Oversees, manages and coordinates a variety of facility and operational projects as well as new construction. Works closely with all clinical and non-clinical members of the healthcare team to ensure that needs are anticipated and accommodated within the constraints of the budget and time.

  • Working with the Inpatient Operations Triad (administrator, nurse, and physician leaders), implements the short and long-term strategic plans for Inpatient Services. Ensures alignment and execution of departmental and hospital strategic goals for Inpatient services.

  • Creates evaluation mechanisms to track the ongoing effectiveness of operations and implemented projects and provides feedback to the Inpatient Operations triad on successes and opportunities.

  • Rounds throughout the clinical areas with the leadership to identify the needs of the area and develop and implement a plan to resolve them.

  • Develops, monitors, and tracks expenses to the Inpatient Services budget.

  • Participates in hospital-wide committees and initiatives as needed to support role requirements, including operational quality and safety.

  • Provides ongoing operational support for Inpatient Operations/Patent Care Services.

  • Provides management oversight to the Departure Lounge.

  • Provides support for Inpatient Operations at BWFH as needed including activation of new inpatient beds and operational workflows.

  • Supports the Executive Director of Inpatient and Clinical Services with his/her operational responsibilities as needed.






Qualifications - External





  • Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred

  • 5-7 years of progressive experience in healthcare is preferred.

  • 1-2 years of management experience preferred.

  • Hospital operations and fiscal management experience preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience and exceptional judgment in interacting with clinical leaders and senior management on sensitive, political, and confidential issues.
