The Senior Project Specialist will contribute to the success of Digital through the management of one or more large, enterprise-wide projects, and the resources associated with these projects.
Position Summary:
The Senior Project Specialist - Application Integration will report to the DFCI Application Integration Team (AIT) manager.
Responsibilities include managing medium to large integration projects specific to the DFCI Application Integration Team or part of larger initiatives. Projects will include HL7 interfaces, API calls, extension launches, Salesforce MuleSoft integration, and other custom-developed integration solutions.
The ideal candidate should be able to work well independently and help foster collaboration across teams, including Information Services (IS), executive sponsors, business owners, and consultants.
This role is responsible for overseeing the integration project life cycle from collecting business requirements to design to development, testing, product release, and support, including, but not limited to:
• Defining work scope and time estimations and identifying and mitigating risks.
• Managing project budget and resources.
• Maintaining status reports, updating project stakeholders, and escalating as needed.
• Creating integration specifications for end users and integration developers.
• Working with integration team members to set priorities.
• Identifying areas that need system or workflow enhancements.
• Creating unit, functional, and integrated test plans.
• Creating change control entries and cutover plans.
• Producing and maintaining documentation of integration projects and enhancements.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develop project goals, objectives, approach, and scope through negotiation and diplomacy that result in a well-defined, well-sponsored project.
• Develop workplans and timelines to meet project goals.
• Develop IT strategies and solutions that align with Digital standards and strategic directions.
• Develop capital and operating funding requirements associated with a project. Manage a project within its budget.
• Work independently but recognize when the involvement of senior management is required.
• Plan, manage and oversee projects, using recognized project management methods including:
o Definition of project scope and objectives
o Management and status reporting tools
o Feasibility and cost benefit studies
o Requirement's definition (functional and/or technical)
o System testing/quality assurance
o Training
o Implementation
o Post-implementation/on-going support
o Project administrative activities
o Documentation
• Manage projects within the context of the larger environment including competing priorities, staffing levels, and budgetary concerns. Provide appropriate and timely problem escalation (including potential solutions where applicable) to both Digital management, project steering committees, and executive management.
• Provide on-going project status reports to Digital management, user groups, project steering committee and executive hospital management.
• Negotiate and acquire the enterprise-wide resources necessary to appropriately implement the project.
• Establish and create a positive project environment through leadership and mentoring.
• Provide quality customer service, providing on-going communication, feedback and follow-through with customers and executive management.
