Responsibilities
Demonstrate safety leadership by supporting all plant/Division/Corporate safety initiatives and directing all aspects of project execution to ensure work is executed safely, all applicable safety policies/procedures are followed, and all project safety-related targets are met or exceeded.
Responsible for evaluation, development, and implementation of engineering projects ranging in size from $25,000 to $3,000,000. Execute all aspects of project management for these projects through all phases (concept/initiation through closure). This includes:
Seek out, research, evaluate and screen potential suppliers and vendors of new technologies and equipment to provide innovative technical solutions to improve all aspects of the plant's polyethylene pipe fittings molding and machining processes.
Once viable projects are identified, facilitate the preparation of project scope of work, justification, economic analysis, critical path schedules, and execution plans utilizing CPChem's internal CPDEP project management process.
Interact with equipment suppliers to review all detailed engineering designs/drawings, ensure applicable design code compliance, execute vendor site visits/reviews, witness factory acceptance testing, and collect all project engineering documentation.
Initiate, track and manage all appropriate equipment specific documentation such as acceptance criteria, preventive maintenance requirements and recommended spare parts inventory for new equipment and technologies employed.
Direct all aspects of equipment installation, including management of internal and external workforces, as needed to accomplish project completion on time and within budget.
Oversee testing of newly installed equipment to ensure fulfillment of contract specifications/performance guarantees, and authorize payment of equipment and services.
Provide guidance, technical support, training, etc. to all plant personnel on new equipment and technologies employed.
Provide plant engineering support for routine manufacturing processes. Must routinely consult with plant leadership, operations personnel, maintenance technicians and others to understand issues and provide solutions to ensure continuous improvement in production performance to meet specific business needs and management directives.
Provide hands-on support when needed to resolve issues or improve processes.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree inEngineering- Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, or Electrical/Electronics
Strong PC skills including 2D and 3D CAD design capabilities (e.g. AutoCad, Solid Works), Microsoft Office suite, and SAP
High level of creativity and initiative, as well as a high level of independent judgment
Self-driven with excellent team skills, interpersonal skills and conflict/problem solving skills
Significant organizational and project management skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills required for routine communications with plant and Division management
Excellent understanding of engineering theory and principles of design
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with plastics parts operations (molding/machining) preferred, recent college graduates encouraged to apply
Experience in capital stewardship and project management principles including equipment design and specification, project cost control and tracking, construction management, and experience with bidding and procurement.
Strong familiarity with applicable industry regulatory codes.
Experience in automation equipment and systems
