This application is for a 12-week internship role from June - August 2025. Resume review begins in January 2025. 

Biogen's West Coast Hub is specifically focused on transforming the lives of patients with severe immune-mediated diseases by developing novel targeted therapies with outsized clinical impact, faster. Pharmacovigilance (PV) team plays a critical role in supporting our commitment to transform patient lives by focusing on patient safety, compliance and continuous improvement.  

We are seeking a highly motivated intern that has an interest in Pharmacovigilance (PV) in the R&D environment within the biotech/pharma industry. This position provides an opportunity for inquisitive students to get hands on experience and working knowledge of PV regulations and guidance in a fast-paced environment.  

You will work within PV team to support areas including but not limited to Individual Case Safety Report (ICSR) Case Processing Oversight, Clinical Trial Safety, and aggregate safety reports. You will support the teams' efforts for process improvement and inspection readiness. You will also perform ad-hoc assistance as they arise throughout the internship. 

The key learning objective is for you to become familiar with principles of PV and understand the operational and oversight aspects required for an organization to be in compliance with global PV regulations and guidance.  

Position Description 


  • Actively participate in team meetings and assist with meeting minutes if needed   

  • Support PV project, resolve pending action items and track their status  

  • Support the review of PV compliance metrics and the quality review of ICSRs 

  • Support the authoring and revision of controlled documents 

  • Evaluate and pilot innovative approaches to drive efficiency and performance. 

Qualifications


  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, SharePoint, Power Point, Word, MS Teams 

  • Strong organization skills to manage multiple priorities 

  • Team player who desires to collaborate with pharmacovigilance and cross functional team members 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication 

  • Willingness to learn, be mentored, and improve 

To participate in the Biogen Internship Program, students must meet the following eligibility criteria: 


  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. 

  • At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date 

  • Be currently enrolled in an accredited community college, college or university 

  • Must be an active student in good academic standing  

  • Must be available to work full-time for the entire duration of the program 

Education 


  • Completed Bachelor's degree required with major or minor in biological, nursing, pharmacy, regulatory science, or other relevant healthcare or life science discipline  

  • Students in Advanced Degree programs (M.S. Ph.D., MPH, NP, PharmD, etc.) in healthcare or life science discipline preferred, with a graduation date no earlier than August 2025.

Location 

  • This role can be hybrid in Cambridge, MA or remote.
