Iowa Compass, a program at the Center for Disabilities and Development (CDD), is seeking a Community Resource Specialist - Database Curator/Data Analyst. This position is part of the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) Technical Assistance and Call Center. Iowa Compass has provided information and referral (I&R) services since 1986; connecting aging Iowans, Iowans with disabilities and complex health conditions, their families, caregivers, case managers, service providers, and the public to programs and services throughout the state and nationwide. Iowa Compass connects Iowans to services and resources through our contact service provided by Community Resource Specialists - A/D (aging and disability specialization) using the service provider record listings entered into the program database and available on the program website, www.iowacompass.org.
This position is full-time Monday-Friday 8am-5pm with benefits that will extend through 01/14/2026, with a high likelihood of annual renewal. This position is eligible for remote work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location.
This position is responsible for creating and maintaining accurate record listings by implementing established processes, recommending improvements and solutions to improve processes, and through continual research and training on industry standards and aging and disability service systems. Outreach is made to service providers throughout Iowa and nationwide to explain the services of Iowa Compass and to assist service providers in creating, updating, and submitting their program and service information listed within Iowa Compass resources. This position is cross trained to provide information and referral services to Iowa Compass callers and contacts.
Synthesizes and translates information submitted by service providers about programs and services into clear and plain language, using guidance from an established taxonomy system, inclusion policy, and style guide.
Applies Inform USA, a professional Information and Referral membership organization, industry standards and Iowa Compass standards to the database content.
Documents all actions taken on record listing updates and communication with service providers to manage personal workflow.
Creates and maintains record listings in a resource database of organizations that provide programs and services for aging Iowans and Iowans with disabilities.
Communicate effectively through various forms of communication (phone, email, Zoom, Microsoft Teams) with service providers throughout the state and nationwide.
Researches and gains knowledge of the complex systems of support for aging Iowans, Iowans with disabilities, and their families for understanding, to share information with the team, and to accurately add new services to database record listings.
Analyzes data for quality improvement and information dissemination initiatives.
Communicates effectively through various forms of communication (phone, email, text, and chat) with Iowa Compass contacts to determine their information and referral needs regarding programs and services for aging Iowans, Iowans with disabilities, their families, and service providers.
Communicates service and program information to each contact applying customer service standards developed by Iowa Compass and recommended by the Inform USA professional membership organization.
Represents the program by providing information about the program's mission to internal and external stakeholders.
Regularly follows-up with contacts to ensure that access to the referred community services is achieved.
Assists service providers in completing an annual verification to ensure their organization's programs and services are accurately listed.
Contribute ideas and work collaboratively with the Iowa Compass team.
Provide direction and feedback during weekly call review meetings.
Reports regularly to the Iowa Compass Program Manager on the status of activities. Reports on the status of tasks and projects to the Resource Database Manager, as requested.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in data curation and analysis.
One year experience providing data analysis, including the ability to become proficient in learning new and changing applications and software.
Extensive proficiency in working with various communication tools (Skype, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft SharePoint, Zoom, etc.) including being able to perform in an online work environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to quickly develop rapport.
Experience working in a position that required working independently without supervision and as a cooperative and interactive member of a remote team.
Obtain Inform USA certification as a Certified Resource Specialist - Database Curator (CRS - DC) shortly after one year of the date of hire and maintains certification by recertifying every two years. Inform USA is the professional membership association for community service information or information and referral (I&R).
Ability to travel occasionally for professional conferences, outreach events, or team events at the Center for Disabilities and Development.
Desired Qualification:
Knowledge of systems of support for aging Iowans, Iowans with disabilities, their families, and service providers is highly desired.
