The Ultrafast Dynamics group at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a postdoctoral research position in Ultrafast Photoelectron Spectroscopy and Microscopy physics. The group's activities include Fundamental studies of the unoccupied electronic structure and electron energy relaxation dynamics and topological plasmonics based on existing photoemission spectroscopy and photoemission electron microscopy instrumentation that is excited by nonlinear femtosecond excitation. In addition to working on one of these projects, the successful applicant will also significantly contribute to ongoing ultrafast dynamics studies.
The position is funded initially for one year and housed within the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Pittsburgh working with Dr. Hrvoje Petek and collaborators. The position may be extended pending funding and performance. Benefits include health/dental/vision coverage as well as optional access to other university benefits. The start date is as soon as practicable, preferably by March 2025.
Required: A PhD in experimental condensed matter physics and experience in ultrafast laser spectroscopy
