A national public interest law firm is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney for its Palo Alto, California office. The Associate will focus on representing plaintiffs in individual and class action employment discrimination matters and assist on a variety of cases, including gender discrimination, Title IX sexual assault cases, qui tam and whistleblower matters, wage and hour actions, ERISA matters, and consumer fraud cases.


The firm has a history of representing thousands of individuals in significant class-action cases, securing landmark victories through trial and settlement. Current litigation includes cases before district and federal appellate courts against major corporations, law firms, and universities.

Responsibilities:



  • Represent plaintiffs in individual and class action employment discrimination matters.

  • Conduct factual and legal research; draft legal documents such as pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery requests.

  • Provide legal advice to clients and assist in mediations, arbitrations, depositions, trials, and hearings.

  • Participate in settlement negotiations, industry events, and community outreach.

  • Supervise legal assistants on assigned cases.


Requirements:



  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in complex litigation and employment litigation (not entry-level).

  • Clerkship experience and/or interest in civil rights litigation preferred.

  • Member in good standing of the State Bar of California or expectation of imminent admission.

  • Familiarity with employment law (California law preferred) and Title VII, Title IX, or complex civil litigation.

  • Fluency in Mandarin Chinese is a nice-to-have.


Salary and Benefits:



  • Lock-step salary scale ranging from $130,000 (2023-2024 graduates) to $180,000 based on experience.

  • Contribution to health insurance premiums.

  • Eligibility for discretionary bonuses.


Work Environment:



  • Hybrid environment requiring in-person attendance 3 days per week.

  • Occasional travel may be required.
