Job Description:

Position Summary

Support the Quality & Product Compliance Specialist with customer Product Regulatory Compliance requests. Secondary responsibilities include assisting with gage calibrations throughout the facility, data entry and testing of nylon resins in the Quality Control lab. 

Primary Functions


  • Track incoming customer requests for Product Regulatory Compliance information.

  • Determine actions items for each customer request with the Quality & Product Compliance specialist.

  • Conduct surveys of raw material suppliers for compliance information.

  • Conduct annual Restricted Substance Control Plan supplier surveys.

  • Check restricted substances lists weekly for updates.

  • Help draft responses to customers and communicate responses as requested.

  • Develop system for tracking requests once familiar with protocol.

  • Contact and coordinate consulting and testing with third party labs as requested by the Quality & Product compliance specialist.

  • Work with the Quality & Environmental Specialist 1-2 days a month to maintain compliance with environmental regulations.

  • Conduct monthly inspections of the safety showers and eyewash stations, and audit AEDs for the Safety Leader.

Secondary Functions


  • Monitor calibrations in our Gagepack calibration system. Notify correct personnel when calibrations are upcoming/overdue.

  • Manage lab records, raw material inspection report, inventory, raw material certs and other test documents.

  • Test each production lot of nylon resins in a timely manner for percent moisture, relative viscosity, monomer, melting point, color, speck count, solubility, transmittance, melt index and amine end group analysis.

  • Identify products and compare test data to the specifications and determine if product is conforming or non-conforming. Communicate results with the production team.

  • Perform special tests to support R&D, sales and extrusion departments.

  • Monitor product performance using SPC chart.

  • Prepare certificate of analysis, assign lot attributes and release material from quality inspection.

  • Ensure compliance of ISO9001:2008 quality management system.

Position Specifications


  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry or related discipline, preferred                        

  • Computer skills: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access Database

  • Must possess excellent organization skills

  • Excellent customer satisfaction skills.

  • Knowledge of MS Access Database preferred

  • Knowledge of SPC and process capability preferred

  • Self-starter, must be able to set daily priorities

  • Have some working experience in chemical lab
