The Stanford Medicine Technology and Digital Solutions team was formed to provide the Stanford Medicine community with the most innovative technology services as efficiently as possible. Led by Michael Pfeffer, CIO and Michael Halaas, Chief Operating Officer and Associate Dean in the School of Medicine, the unified organization brings together the best of the School of Medicine and Stanford Health Care IT to enable new opportunities for groundbreaking work and compassionate care. Together, the Technology and Digital Solutions team will work to break down historic organizational barriers to enable even greater collaboration across Stanford Medicine hospital and clinics, and the entire University.

The anticipated salary range for this posting will be $159,000 - $211,000 ($76.90 - $101.91). Final salary will be determined based on experience, education and internal equity.
About the Role:
The Senior Business Manager is responsible for the daily financial operations of a major center managing over 50 cost centers with a combined staff exceeding 500 and budgets totaling over $200 million. Reporting to the Executive Director of Business Operations, this position provides business management services to multiple business units and supports the organization’s strategic incentives.
What you will do:
Provides leadership for process and data management including Operating Budget Variances, Revenue Cycle KPIs, Cost Center KPIs, Contract Administration, Signature Authority, Capital Purchasing and supervision of project and business operations staff.
Identifies and drives internal Business Operations improvement projects that enable efficiency, productivity, and knowledge sharing across the clinical enterprise as well as collaborates with finance, revenue cycle, procurement, accounting, and clinical operations to increase data quality, communication and coordination.
Provides content expertise to department colleagues in the areas of SHC business operations, finance, procurement, accounting. Develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders in these SHC support functions.
Supports operational budget submission and monitoring.
Serves as a primary resource for data reporting, data analysis, and data interpretation for clinical operations.
Designs and prepares operational reports for an audience of senior management, physician constituencies and other hospital executives.
Researches and analyzes data from internal and external (benchmark) sources.
Identifies opportunities, designs and administers sustaining solutions for process improvement projects.
Coaches and mentors department staff through change process and cycles of continuous improvement.
Performs other departmental duties as assigned.
Education Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university. Relevant experience in lieu of degree may be considered (requires approval). Relevant experience in lieu of degree is in addition to the experience requirements for this position.
Experience Qualifications
Seven (7) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of financial systems, including operations, budgeting and analysis, statistics, and forecasting and modeling
Knowledge of financial and operational management information systems
Knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory requirement related to the functional area
Knowledge of Lean or other Quality and Process Improvement techniques
Ability to develop and administer departmental budgets
Ability to develop, write, analyze and present business plans, proposals, contracts and financial analysis reports
Ability to foster effective working relationships and build consensus
Strong decision making, problem solving, project management, analytical, interpersonal, negotiation, and collaboration skills
