What You'll Do

It is the primary responsibility of the Team Lead to supervise, guide, and provide training to Family Services Workers, as well as to manage a modified caseload according to the Organization's and licensing standards as well as the requirements of federal, state, and local regulation



Responsibilities

  • Provide all Family Services Workers staff with ongoing support, coaching, and training to ensure they are meeting performance goals and the needs of the children, parents, and families
  • Review case plans completed by Family Services Workers for accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to licensing and regulatory requirements
  • Review case files and notes to ensure they are accurate and completed in a timely manner and meet the Organization’s standards, state licensing standards, and other federal, state, and local regulatory requirements
  • Manage a modified caseload by providing foster children, parents, and families with case management and direct services to meet established goals, provide advocacy on behalf on the child, parents, and families with the courts, police, school, and other medical and mental health providers
  • Travel as needed to perform home visits to ensure licensing standards are being met along with the well-being and safety of the children
  • Respond to escalated situations and serious incidents in a timely manner and properly document the incident and outcome
  • Assist with the completion of the intake process from point of contact to placement and post-placement; complete the recruitment and intake/eligibility process, assessment, counseling, verification, approval, placement, and referral services
  • Assist with child placement and post-placement services, which may include identifying and contacting the appropriate foster parent and coordinating arrangements between the placement agency and the foster home
  • Provide emergency and on-call services when needed Provide advanced stabilization services (crisis intervention) for foster children, parents, and their families; support and coach staff on how to effectively manage a crisis
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Coach and support staff to ensure they have the necessary tools and resources needed to optimize performance, ensure established program goals, and achieve operational excellence.
  • Communicate with direct reports in periodic one-on-one meetings
  • Organize and deliver regularly scheduled staff meetings to communicate present, on-going, and future updates of pertinent information, projects, and initiatives
  • Work closely with management team to interview, hire, and onboard new employees who are strong cultural fits for Upbring
  • Work in collaboration with leadership and the People and Culture Team to arrange training; when needed, coordinate and/or provide in-service training for staff development
  • Regularly review employee performance, including goals and progress, to provide developmental feedback: use applicable agency development tools to facilitate growth and development in staff
  • Draft and issue the 90-day and annual evaluations, along with supporting documentation, as per established procedures; work in collaboration with staff to set goals during evaluation periods



  • Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or closely related field
    • Child Placement Management Staff (CPMS)
    • Three (3) years relevant experience in foster care, child welfare, or adoption
    • Valid TX driver’s license and auto insurance coverage
    • At least 21 years of age

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or closely related field
    • LCPAA, LMSW, LCSW, LMFT, or LPC
    • One (1) year supervisory or management experience
    • Bilingual (English and Spanish based on service area and service population)

    Physical Demands & Work Conditions

    • This position requires sitting and looking and using a computer for long periods of time
    • Position works in a child facility and has constant exposure to children
    • Position requires frequent standing, walking and time in units/cottages which are areas where children reside
    • Lift, push, pull, move up to 25 lbs.
