Job Description Summary

The role of the Forklift Driver is to ensure safe material handling practices are followed at all times. This includes daily inspection of forklifts, ensuring load security compliance and proper loading/unloading procedures. The driver will also be responsible for keeping accurate records related to inventory, receiving and shipping of materials as directed by the supervisor or lead person.

Schedule: 1st Shift 6:00 am-2:00 pm




Responsibilities

• Work in accordance with established safety rules and regulations, promoting a safe work environment.


• Perform daily pre-shift checks on assigned equipment to ensure it is in good working order and properly maintained.


• Drive forklifts carefully and efficiently while adhering to production schedules and deadlines.


• Maintain accurate records of product movements, including receipts, shipments, and transfers between manufacturing areas.


• Ensure load security compliance by checking loads prior to transportation and verifying they meet regulatory requirements.


• Follow proper unloading and loading procedures to avoid damages or injuries.


• Collaborate effectively with other team members to coordinate logistics and optimize operations.


• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency and reducing waste within the facility.


• Comply with all relevant health and safety legislation, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience operating heavy machinery such as forklifts, cranes, or other similar equipment.


• Knowledgeable in warehouse management systems and processes.


• Ability to drive vehicles safely under tight deadlines.


• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with others.


• Physically fit and able to lift heavy objects.


• Familiarity with loading and unloading procedures.


• Experience in maintaining accurate records related to inventory, shipping, and receiving.


• Commitment to upholding strict safety protocols and promoting a safe work environment.


• Willingness to wear PPE when necessary.
