Hiring Range: $71,395 - $108,876

Chesterfield County Government is seeking a Senior Engineer. This position reports to the Development Section of the Department of Utilities. The Development Team is responsible for the oversight of all land development proposals and the orderly expansion of the county water and wastewater systems. This occurs through development projects, master planning, and the departments capital projects.

• Review the impacts of proposed developments on the existing water and wastewater systems.
• Review site and subdivision construction plans, zoning requests, and other community development applications for compliance with the county specifications, as well as state and federal requirements.
• Evaluate water distribution and wastewater collection systems using field data and standard engineering practices supplemented with computer hydraulic modeling.
• Prepare and review reports, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and contracts.
• Interact with the public and collaborate with other agencies, consulting firms, and internal/external customers.
• Host or attend meetings with presentations.
• Use Geographic Information System (GIS) Mapping software to answer public inquiries and collect and interpret system data.
• Will train to use Innovyze (Infowater) to run hydraulic flow tests, both static and dynamic, of the county water system to provide information for internal and external customers.
• Respond to customer inquiries about extending or connecting to the county water and wastewater systems.
• Perform other work as required.

Successful candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in engineering or a closely related field; three years of experience in professional engineering; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.  Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.
