Job Description Summary
Through the direction of a team leader, field technician, or coordinator this position is responsible for the operation of tractor trailer combinations to facilitate the delivery of raw materials to the plant. Truck drivers are responsible for safe and efficient operation of their trucks and for maintaining all pertinent records.
Job Description
Drives tractor-trailer combination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations.
Maneuvers truck into loading or unloading position, following signals from loading crew as needed. Drives truck to weigh station before and after loading, and along route to document weight and conform to state regulations.
Maintains driver log according to DOT regulations.
Inspects truck before and after trips and submits report indicating truck condition.
Reads bill of lading to determine assignment.
Fastens chains or binders, which includes throwing straps, to secure loads on trailer during transit. Loads or unloads, or assists in loading and unloading truck.
Services and maintains truck with oil, fuel, and radiator fluid.
Complies with all safety policies, practices, and procedures.
Reports all unsafe activities to supervisor.
Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
Must perform a minimum of 3 safety engagement activities per week.
May be required to train other employees as needed.
Other duties may be assigned as needed.
May be required to be used as Yard Dog in case of emergencies.
