The University of Miami/UHealth Central Business Office has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Manager, Medical Billing & Collections to work in Miami, FL. The Manager, Medical Billing and Collections works closely with upper management to develop and implement policies and processes to reduce inefficiencies and maximize revenue by improving the medical billing and medical collections functions.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Recruits, trains, supervises, disciplines and terminates billing and collections staff, and prepares performance reports.
Develops and implements policies and procedures and ensures compliance with internal as well as local, state, and national regulations.
Establishes and implements a system for the collection of delinquent accounts.
Prepares monthly reports to reflect department performance.
Conducts audits to resolve payment and business problems.
Conducts meetings periodically to review billing and collection matters.
Reviews and processes billing adjustments, refunds, transfers, and returned checks.
Ensures timeliness and accuracy of data, cash deposits, payment posting, and prompt mailing of invoices statements, insurance claims, and collection letters.
Maintains current knowledge of University and external policies and regulations regarding billing and collection and educates staff on variations.
Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in related field
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
Knowledge of business and management principles
Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
Ability to establish department goals and objectives that support the strategic plan.
Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others.
Ability to lead, motivate, develop and train others.
Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.
