The Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY) is a not-for-profit trade association that works to protect, improve, and advance the business of real estate in New York City. REBNY has over 15K members and a staff of 50 people, led by an executive team that reports to REBNY's Board of Governors, which is comprised of the leaders of the New York real estate industry.
REBNY is seeking a Director of Business Development to drive engagement, deliver high-impact initiatives, lead product sales, and strengthen relationships within NYC's residential real estate market. This strategic leader will collaborate across departments to enhance services, events, and products that support the evolving needs of NYC residential real estate.
Responsibilities
Build and Strengthen Industry Relationships: Cultivate and manage partnerships with top NYC residential brokerage firms, owners, and management companies.
Be the Face of REBNY: Act as a trusted resource for agents across online and in-person activities to boost engagement.
Lead Public Engagement & Outreach: Conduct presentations, roadshows, and product demos to educate and inform industry professionals.
Lead Industry Committees: Oversee select REBNY committees, guiding discussions, facilitating meetings, and delivering committee initiatives.
Innovate through Networking & Signature Events: Reimagine and execute premier industry events, including the Residential Deal of the Year, ensuring event experience, fundraising and attendance goals are met.
Manage Vendor & Partner Relations: Negotiate and secure contracts with venues, vendors, and clients to support events and initiatives.
Lead Product Launch: Collaborate with the SVP of Residential Brokerage and the RLS Director of Operations to launch and position new RLS products, working alongside strategic partners across all REBNY membership categories.
Support Advocacy & Policy Efforts: Work with Government Affairs and Policy teams to understand legislation and policies that impact the real estate industry and master updates to members.
Ensure Strategic Execution: Oversee key milestones, timelines, and goals for events, projects, and programs within the residential brokerage division.
Define Success Metrics: Establish measurable short- and long-term goals to enhance REBNY's presence and impact in the residential real estate community.
Qualifications
Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of experience, preferably in NYC's residential real estate industry.
Industry Expertise: Strong knowledge of real estate technology, listing services, data insights, and their impact on brokerage operations.
Leadership & People Management: Proven ability to connect effectively with stakeholders, empower teams, and coach for high performance.
Public Speaking & Communication: Exceptional presentation, facilitation, and relationship-building competences.
