Summary
As a Supplier Quality Engineer II, you will serve as a technical focal point for monitoring and addressing supplier quality issues, working directly with manufacturers to resolve non-conforming parts and ensuring effective communication across all programs. You will evaluate supplier performance, determine appropriate inspection processes, and provide guidance to the Receiving Inspection function at the site level.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Act as the primary contact for commodity-related quality and functional issues related to purchased components.
Ensure timely resolution of production-critical supplier issues and verify effective implementation of corrective actions.
Develop and oversee Inspection Plans and Inspection Methods, providing guidance to Receiving Inspection Auditors.
Conduct ongoing supplier evaluations using data from Receiving Inspection, MRB, Customer Returns, and the SCAR database. Report performance internally, to suppliers, and to customers where applicable.
Perform supplier audits, collaborating with Corporate Supplier Quality Engineers (SQEs) as needed.
Provide documentation and oversee component inspections per Inspection Plans in SAP.
Monitor and drive Parts Per Million (PPM) issues with suppliers, working to help them achieve Dock to Stock certification.
Develop and implement supplier selection strategies that align with cost-saving initiatives and leverage supplier capabilities across customer programs.
Proactively communicate quality and manufacturability concerns that may impact product costs to relevant departments.
Ensure compliance with safety, health, and company security policies.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required (Engineering preferred) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2 to 4 years of experience in Quality or Manufacturing Engineering.
Experience and knowledge in the Electronics Industry (including SMT, TH, and PCBA).
Skills & Abilities
Advanced PC skills, including proficiency in Jabil’s software packages.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
Strong ability to respond to inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies, and business stakeholders.
Effective in presenting information to senior management, public groups, and boards of directors.
Mathematical proficiency in statistical analysis, probability, and engineering-related calculations.
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to define issues, collect data, and implement solutions.
Ability to interpret technical instructions and work with abstract and concrete variables.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Regularly required to sit, stand, and walk; occasional lifting up to 15 lbs.
Must be accessible to both production floor and office staff.
Primary workstation is in an office setting, with daily visits to the manufacturing floor.
Work environment noise levels range from low to moderate.
