Under general supervision, performs technical level accounting work; responsible for the acquisition of supplies, equipment and services for use by the court, and performs related duties as required.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Fiscal Services Technician is paraprofessional and technical level in the accounting field. Incumbents perform difficult sub professional and technical accounting work but do not independently perform professional accounting work, except under close review of accountants. Fiscal Services Technician is distinguished from Fiscal Services Clerk in that the former performs more complex tasks with less supervision than Fiscal Services Clerk, and may assign, train and review the work of Fiscal Services Clerks.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Performs routine bookkeeping and accounting tasks to support the fiscal operations of the department; prepares, maintains and processes accounting records and financial transactions; audits accounting records; prepares monthly cash statements; balances bank statements; reviews trust and disbursement documents; maintains safe balance; balances and replenishes the petty cash account; prepares daily deposits; prepares journal entries; sets up and reconciles vendor accounts.
Receives and processes all forms of payments; sets up new debtor accounts; receives cash payments and provides change; opens and closes register; trains new users on the register; programs cash registers; accepts credit card payments; provides assistance at the counter area as needed; provides customer service to all visitors of the office; assist customers with payment information; processes payments to the correct account; may provide interpreting services to customers as needed to facilitate communications.
Assists with special departmental projects as required; prepares coding strips; matches packing slips to invoices.
Performs general clerical and administrative functions for the office; performing computer data entry; duplicates various reports and related documents; maintains filing system; maintains copier accounts; receives and responds to incoming calls; prepares routine correspondence.
