Department Information



The Development team at Radio/TV Services serves both WFIU public radio and WTIU public television. WFIU has nearly 4,000 contributing members, and WTIU has nearly 6,000 contributing members who make the station's work possible. About half of our members are sustaining (monthly) donors. Membership revenue to the station has been very consistent, thanks to the focus on sustaining giving and the growth of PBS Passport. WFIU and WTIU are a highly trusted and leading source of news and information, an essential outlet for arts and entertainment programming, a key partner in public and civic education, and a community connector through the station's events and partnerships. Together, the development team at WFIU and WTIU raise about $3 million annually to provide operating support for the station's public service to this region.



Job Summary



As a part of the Membership team, this role supports the station's vital Sustaining Membership program by working with members to ensure their payment information is updated for their ongoing monthly contributions to the station. This position includes many opportunities to engage with donors through thank you calls, interaction during WFIU and WTIU's membership campaigns, assisting with membership support and PBS Passport, and through occasional station events in the community. This role supports WFIU and WTIU's vehicle donation program and may assist with digital fundraising efforts and other projects.


Department-Specific Responsibilities:


  • Enter donor gift information in the donor database in a timely and accurate manner, with high attention to detail.

  • Enter Donor Advised Fund, Stock, and IRA gifts.

  • Process payroll deduction and IUF recurring gifts authorization forms.

  • Run recurring gifts, and upload EFT and Payroll Deductions to donor database.

  • Manage donation and entry of gifts related to the Vehicle Donation program.

  • Prepare and send acknowledgement letters to donors for contributions made to the station.

  • Prepare and send acknowledgement letters for vehicle donations made to WFIU and WTIU.

  • Make outbound thank you calls to donors to express appreciation for their support and invite further engagement with the station.

  • Assist with Sustaining Membership credit card updating and recapture through calls and emails.

  • Provide customer service to WFIU and WTIU members and sustainers as needed.

  • Support membership drive for WFIU and WTIU.

  • Assist with printing scripts and creating binders for pledge drives.

  • Answer phones during pledge drives.

  • Work in fundraising donor database to accurately record gifts and perform database cleanup; and regularly run IU Foundation reports.

  • Review Active Sustainer Pledges and Multiple Open Pledges Reports.

  • Maintain database integrity and quality merging member records, correcting and updating member information and other routine data improvement

  • Assist in the day-to-day operations of the Membership team and handle other duties and special projects as assigned.

  • Assist Membership team with digital designs for campaigns as needed.

  • Assist with grants management as needed.

  • Assist with member events as needed.

  • Update and maintain donor data in the fundraising database and send pledge reminders and gift acknowledgement letters for donations in a timely manner.

General Responsibilities:


  • Support the university's stewardship efforts to ensure adherence to donor intent of donated funds, proper donor acknowledgment/recognition, and reporting on how gifts are used.

  • Follow up with donors regarding pledged and received donations and provides documentation confirms donation(s) and designation, giving timeline, donor intent, terms of recognition, and other points.

  • Process cash, checks, and credit card donations in a timely manner upon receipt, ensuring the confidentiality of donor information

  • Generate reports for each deposit; maintain gift receipt documentation for the required time frame.

  • Perform audits and corrects errors, escalating to supervisor as appropriate.

  • Update donor records, sends donor correspondence (including pledge reminders, gift acknowledgment letters, annual reports on gift usage, annual giving statements for tax purposes, newsletters, etc.), and participate in fundraising and outreach events.

  • Frequently interface directly with donors via phone and email and provide an excellent donor experience through customer service, active listening, inclusive language, and thoughtful and persuasive discussion, consistently upholding the integrity and mission of Indiana University.

  • Generate weekly, monthly, and/or annual reports and prepares presentations of fundraising metrics and fund use/allocation for use by other development staff.

  • Assist with coordinating donor recognition or outreach events.

  • May coordinate recognition efforts with outside vendors, such as ordering plaque name plates or incentive items.

  • May provide guidance to lower-level Stewardship Coordinators.

Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.


EDUCATION



Required



  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • 4 years in fundraising, sales, a higher education foundation, administrative, or a related field

Working Conditions / Demands



This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. $41,600 - 45,760.00 per year, based on experience and internal equity.
