Location: Fort Washington PA

What you will do

The Manufacturing Engineer IV-Processing is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and evaluating new and existing manufacturing systems for industrial production processes including human work factors, material flow, cost analysis, and process optimization in processing operations.

Key Responsibilities


  • Plans, schedules and performs moderately complex projects to evaluate, select, and adapt or modify standard manufacturing techniques, procedures, and criteria to increase the efficiency of plant operations.
  • Develops manufacturing methods, labor utilization standards, and cost analysis systems to promote efficient staff and facility utilization.
  • Studies operations sequence, material flow, functional statements, organization charts, and project information to determine worker functions and responsibilities.
  • Ensures the maintenance of labor and equipment capacity models.
  • Formulates complex sampling procedures and designs special or adhoc forms and instructions for nonstandard recording, evaluating, and reporting.
  • Applies advanced statistical methods and performs mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, staff requirements, and production standards.
  • Applies verbal and written communications skills in periodic and special reports and presentations both internally and with customers.
  • Performs analytical problem solving and utilizes structured decision making skills.

Required Qualifications


  • Minimum 6-8 years related experience in the development of manufacturing processes /equipment is required.
  • A thorough understanding of line design flow principles and practices, lean manufacturing and the ability to troubleshoot processes and equipment is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of project management principles are required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required.
  • Experience using Excel as an analytical tool is required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to all levels of the organization
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions or complex inquiries from groups of employees, managers and internal customers
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze large data sets to support decision-making
  • Demonstrated ability to work at functional and strategic levels simultaneously
  • Demonstrated planning and tracking skills and strong project management skills
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, capable of managing multiple projects
  • Must have demonstrated strong cross-functional collaboration and teaming.
  • Proven influence, leadership and facilitation skills.
  • Analytical problem solver
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Access, Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, etc) is required.
  • Previous exposure to other business applications such as SAP, Ariba, MES, Compliance Wire, etc
  • Strong time management skills (schedules, timelines, and task prioritization)

Desired Qualifications

  • FPX or PMP Certification is a plus
  • Strong knowledge and skills in the use of process development tools is preferred (ie. DOE, CTQ flow down, C/E Matrix, pFMEA, fish bone diagrams, etc.)
  • Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing certification is preferred
  • MBA is a plus
