Description:

Responsibilities

Basic Purpose

Establishes and maintains a relationship between IT and the business to increase the value realized from technology assets, investments, and IT capabilities. Understands the business and its operations, participates in the development of the business strategy and roadmap, facilitates the creation of technology project business cases, contributes to the prioritization of IT projects, ensures projects align with the technology roadmap, educates IT about the business, and ensures the IT strategy supports the overall business strategy. Serves as a liaison between IT and the business affiliate, a trusted advisor to the business affiliates and functional areas, the face of IT to the business and the face of the business to IT.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Acts as the principal technology advisor to all energy affiliates and groups assigned and serve as a champion for identifying, leading, and driving information technology transformation and innovation.

  • Anticipates and identifies affiliate needs.

  • Maintains knowledge of industry specific technology and information technology landscape, while working across the organization to drive standardization and vision of technology selection and implementation

  • Ensures communication and education on technology options available to operating companies.

  • Advises and influences overall technology strategies.

  • Participates in vendor evaluation, selection, and negotiation.

  • Develops and manages the relationship between IT and internal and external partners (affiliates and affiliate functions, service providers). For each affiliate, assists in development technology strategies that align within the overall business strategy.

  • Maintains an awareness of current and proposed technology issues and concerns within the operating companies and the IT industry and recommend potential solutions to meet expectations and forecasted requirements.

  • Ensures the affiliate strategy is supported in the IT roadmap.

  • Looks for opportunities to leverage technology to achieve affiliate business objectives.

Interfaces with company leadership to ensure technology needs are met.

  • Facilitates the creation and presentation of technology project business cases.

  • Participates in project prioritization across the enterprise, understands dependencies, and impacts of priority changes.

  • Maintains an understanding of IT projects, enhancements, and maintenance items at all times.

  • Serves as primary escalation point for assigned affiliates.

  • Serves as primary escalation point for IT as it pertains to the affiliates.

  • Participates in and advocates for Service Level Agreement (SLA) negotiations to enhance value to affiliates.

  • Ensures technology is delivered securely in compliance with overall security program.

  • Deepens client relationships as a trusted and valued partner to collect voice of the customer feedback.

  • Ensures gathering of requirements for major technology initiatives are accurate, complete, and meet the needs of the business.

  • Researches, reviews, analyzes the effectiveness and efficiency of existing requirements-gathering processes, and develops strategies for enhancing or further leveraging these processes.

  • Ensures gathering and reporting of key metrics.

  • Ensures the affiliates understand the technology solution, overall solution delivery, and compliance to governance processes, architecture standards, etc.

  • Participates in trials and the piloting of new tools; provides appropriate support and expertise in testing procedures and the development of appropriate testing standards, testing and distribution, implementation and reporting; tracking and project planning support.

  • Defines and sustains change control procedures which discipline the applications development process, ensures that adjustments to client requirements are effectively rationalized and, when approved, adequately funded.

Participates in monitoring of localized affiliate technology staff to ensure adequate levels of business support.

Participates and/or drives application rationalization activities to ensure justification of ongoing technology spend and develops roadmaps that align with broader enterprise application strategy.

Identifies and assists with development of efficiencies and optimization practices across business units.

Works with assigned affiliates to develop and maintain technology budgets.

Prepares cost-benefit analyses for projects and assists business stakeholders in prioritizing projects submitted to application governance councils. Works with stakeholders and project teams to prioritize requirements (within projects on applications).

Evaluates and conducts due diligence related to acquisition targets.

Monitors and enforces all compliance requirements for area of responsibility.

Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes and regulations applicable to position and company

Performs related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Essential Education, Skills, and Environment

Education and Work Experience
Bachelor’s degree in information systems, business process improvement, computer science or related field including:

  • Seven years diverse information technology and/or energy business experience.
  • Five years department, staff and project management experience.
  • Demonstrated vendor management and negotiation experience.
  • Prior experience in energy field preferred.

    Specialized Knowledge and Skills
    Demonstrated knowledge of:

  • Business process improvement
  • Broad knowledge of business applications, operating systems, network systems, Internet, telecommunication systems, and all other relevant technology platforms
  • Broad and demonstrated knowledge of ISO 27001 and/or cybersecurity best practices

    Demonstrated skills such as:

  • Critical thinker
  • Business strategy development and execution skills Highly effective interpersonal skills and leadership abilities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills
  • Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills

    Equipment and Applications
    PCs, word processing, spreadsheet and database software.

    Work Environment and Physical Demands
    General office environment. No special physical demands required.

Compensation

Annual Salary: $157,800 (Min) to $185,700 (Mid); Up to 20% Short Term Incentive Plan target opportunity at the discretion of the company. This is a non-represented position.
