Job Summary:



The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on various equipment and machinery within a food manufacturing facility. The technician ensures that all equipment operates efficiently and safely to maintain production schedules and quality standards.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment to identify maintenance needs.
  
  


• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment such as conveyors, packaging machinery, and HVAC systems.
  
  


• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and programmable logic controller (PLC) systems.
  
  


• Install, align, and move industrial machinery and mechanical equipment according to layout plans.
  
  


• Clean and lubricate machinery to ensure optimal performance.
  
  


• Maintain building systems including fire control, alarm systems, and dock door systems.
  
  


• Complete work orders, records, and logs according to established procedures.
  
  


• Operate material handling equipment and other powered machinery.
  
  


• Ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
  
  


• Provide training to other technicians and staff on equipment maintenance and safety.
  
  

Qualifications:

• Education: Post-secondary education in a related field (e.g., industrial maintenance, mechanical engineering).
  
  


• Experience: 2-5 years of experience in industrial maintenance or a similar role, preferably within the food industry.
  
  


• Skills: Proficiency in reading blueprints, diagrams, and schematics; ability to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment; knowledge of conveyors, PLCs, welding processes, and hand/power tools.
  
  


• Certifications: Current licenses for operating machinery such as forklifts and fall arrest systems; certifications in welding (e.g., SMAW, GMAW/MIG, GTAW/TIG) are a plus.
  
  


• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repetitively and stand for extended periods; flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends.
  
  

Additional Requirements:

• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  
  


• Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving and multitasking abilities.
  
  


• Safety Knowledge: Good knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
  
  


• Flexibility: Willingness to travel between multiple facilities if required.
