DNV Digital Solutions is looking for a Software Development Scientist to join the team. We are seeking highly technical individual contributor who thrives on testing theories related to pipeline business needs and seeing these innovative ideas mature into our tools that fit into our products and be loved by our clients. You enjoy collaborating with the Product Managers to hear more about client pain points, and you want to help be the first in our industry to solve them. You want to be an industry leader, write technical papers and present at conferences. You not only dream of new ideas but are willing to put fingers-to-keyboard to develop generic solutions that fit into our products. This role is based at our DNV office in Mechanicsburg, PA or Houston, Texas, presenting a dynamic hybrid schedule where employees will typically spend three (3) days per week working from either a DNV office or client location/site. Further details regarding role-specific requirements will be shared during the interview process.



What You'll Do


  • Maintain, debug, and sometimes convert current hydraulics engine code as needed for efforts dictated by Delivery Manager
  • Enhance current hydraulic engine code base with new functionality based on requests by Product Management
  • Explore new technology to enhance our domain IP position
  • Uncover and share new insights using data science from the information, data and analytical results produced by the solution portfolio
  • Participate in innovation events such as hackathons with others in the Analytics team or other units within Digital Solutions
  • Work with stakeholders and managers to design and refine features

What is Required



  • Bachelor's (Master's or PhD degree preferred) in engineering, science or mathematics field

  • 8+ years of experience and deep understanding of fluids mechanics and thermodynamics as it relates to the pipeline industry

  • Experience and interest in optimization, linear algebra, numerical analysis, finite difference and finite element methods, partial differential equations

  • Strong knowledge of C++

  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills

  • We conduct pre-employment drug and background screening


What is preferred



  • Proficient in the following programming languages and frameworks:

    • Knowledge of JSON

    • Knowledge of Python

    • Able to read and follow FORTRAN code with the goal of converting it to C++

    • Knowledge of C# & .NET



  • Experienced in use of following tools:

    • Microsoft Azure DevOps (ADO)

    • Git source control



  • Able to work in a team committed to agile principles using Scrum with Microsoft DevOps

  • Able to perform all phases of software development

  • Able to contribute to testing of the software, including automated unit testing and integration testing

  • Able to manage stakeholder expectations and feedback throughout the software delivery lifecycle

  • Able to work within DNV's governance processes and agreed development, security, and quality standards

  • Able to produce documentation throughout the software development lifecycle
