Job Summary:
This Category Buyer (Fluid Conveyance Tube Assemblies) will report directly to the Tubes and Fittings/Adapters Procurement Manager. This role will be responsible for managing the regional supply base, including leading commercial discussions/negotiations with suppliers, supporting development of a category strategy, driving execution of the Category strategy, and lead performance excellence in Quality, Cost, Logistics, Development, and Management (QCLDM). This role will collaborate with Supplier Development Engineers, Supply Network Specialists, Receiving Facilities, and the Product Group on a regular basis.

What You Will Do:
Lead commercial discussions and negotiations with the responsible supply base to drive continuous cost improvement
Drive performance excellence in Quality, Cost, Logistics, Development, and Management (QCLDM) of the responsible supply base
Manage source matrices for Category
Negotiate purchasing agreements with responsible supply base
Lead continuous improvement initiatives and purchasing new production introduction activities
Identify and select suppliers based on strategic sourcing principles, QCLDM, and total cost of ownership
Build and foster relationships with suppliers
Develop supply base to have the right capabilities and capacity to meet Enterprise growth targets, including onboarding and offboarding suppliers as needed
Interface with product groups to ensure alignment of strategies and ensure customer requirements are being met
Other duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time-to-time

What Will Put You Ahead (Preferred Skills):
Bachelor's degree, in lieu of a degree candidate must have 5 years of industry experience.
3+ years of progressively responsible experience in purchasing, logistics, manufacturing, and/or engineering
Purchasing or procurement experience as a purchasing analyst/Supply Network Specialist, Buyer, Supplier Development Engineer (SDE), facility buyer, or product supply NPI lead
Experience with strategic sourcing, collaborating with external suppliers, interpreting and analyzing contracts, purchasing systems (ie: SAP, lognet)
Familiar with quality, cost modeling and NPI tools, fact-based negotiation, LEAN/Six Sigma, or manufacturing principles, and external factors that influence a supply base
What You Will Get:
This role will serve as the primary contact between Caterpillar and the supply base for regional initiatives through direct leverage with the supply base and partnering with Supplier Development Professional (SDP) personnel and Product/Facility Procurement organizations. The buyer will be a Supplier Lead for suppliers with multiple source buyers. This Supplier Lead role will be accountable for being the liaison with corresponding source buyers and will lead the management of the supplier relationship for that supplier including but not limited to Supplier Relationship Management, Supplier Performance Management., Cost Management., Risk Management., and Category Network Management. This role is responsible for supporting the development, and/or communication and implementation of a regional, and worldwide sourcing strategy.
Summary Pay Range: $95,640.00 - $143,520.00 Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
