Title: Welding Lab Assistant

Employee Classification: Temporary/Hourly

Institution: Northeast State Community College

Department: Technologies/Welding

Salary: $30.00 hourly, up to 20 hours a week

Job Summary

Reporting to the Instructor of Welding, the Welding Lab Assistant is responsible for setting up labs, creating lab exercises, and assisting with lab instructions and training equipment.

Job Duties

* Assist students with training equipment.

* Prepare lab consumables.

* Set-up and assist with lab instruction.

* Create training aids and lab exercises that support welding course instruction.

* Complete other assignments as directed by supervision.

Minimum Qualifications

* Professional welding experience using multiple processes to national standards

* Professional experience inspecting welds

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience working with students in the lab setting

*Conversational ability or fluency in a second language

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

* Ability to critique student welding habits and provide corrective feedback to students
* Understanding of various inspection test equipment and procedures used in the welding industry
* Technology Skills: MS Office suite; videoconferencing software; digital records management systems; general operating systems and data information systems
