Job Description
In this role, you will be responsible for designing, prototyping, and developing large industrial mechanical systems while ensuring their efficiency, reliability, and manufacturability.
As a Mechanical Engineer Level 2, you will partner with our other engineers and together take ownership of mechanical design initiatives, collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams, and contribute to engineering excellence. This position involves working at our Rigorous facility in WIlliston, with occasional travel for system testing, installations, and service.
Key Responsibilities
Collaboratively manage & contribute to projects for the development, simulation, and deployment of large-scale industrial mechanical systems.
Guide contractors and manufacturers, ensuring timely execution of mechanical design and fabrication.
Optimize internal processes to enhance communication, scalability, and efficiency within the mechanical department.
Develop and refine mechanical system designs that meet project specifications and manufacturability standards.
Design, analyze, prototype, test, and integrate mechanical systems.
Create and modify engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation using CAD software.
Conduct FEA simulations, mechanical calculations, and tests to validate system performance, structural integrity, and reliability.
Document project details, including design records, test procedures, and change control reports for engineering compliance.
Support manufacturing, installation, and testing activities to ensure all mechanical systems meet customer specifications and regulatory requirements.
Assist clients, operators, and internal teams with field support, troubleshooting, and training.
Participate in all phases of projects, from design and production to testing, integration, and deployment.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on large mechanical systems.
Hands-on experience in designing, analyzing, and fielding:
Weldments (with and without high-precision secondary machining)
Machined parts (milling and lathe operations)
Sheet metal components
Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical components, including:
Bearings, fastening systems, guidance mechanisms
Load isolation systems, drive systems, gearing
Strong CAD proficiency in OnShape Mechanical, SolidWorks, or equivalent software (AutoCAD, NX, Inventor, Creo, etc.).
Experience with FEA analysis, structural simulations, and mechanical calculations.
Thorough understanding of ASME drawing standards and GD&T for precision manufacturing.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical thinking, and troubleshooting skills.
Strong team collaboration, communication, and technical writing abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with automation systems or robotics.
Familiarity with materials science, manufacturing processes, and cost-effective design strategies.
Plant layouts and facility planning.
Proven experience in fielding, installing and industrial mechanical systems.
Expertise in industrial and manufacturing environments (robotics, automation, heavy machinery, etc.).
