In this role, you will oversee the management of strategic initiatives, process sustainability, budgeting cycles, margin improvement efforts, and mergers & acquisitions (M&A) activities. This leadership role requires strong financial acumen, strategic thinking, and the ability to drive operational efficiencies across multiple business units. The Director will also act as a key liaison between business units and corporate functions, ensuring that key business objectives are achieved through effective resource allocation and strategic support.

A "Day in the Life" of a Director of Hauling Operations
Coach managers as to execution of programs, and when necessary, provide directions for modification in work plans or implementation of contingency plans in accordance with prevailing business conditions.
Develops and implement multiple Business Unit operating plans, consistent with the accomplishment of long range established objectives which will enhance effectiveness and delineate responsibilities and authority.
Reviews and evaluates Business Unit's performance on a continuing basis and establishes proper measures of performance
Assist the VP of Ops with developing Business unit budgets in a timely manner, forecasting financial and human resource needs for future periods.
Implements and maintains programs to improve the safety, productivity, and profitability of the company. Ensures compliance with the Department of Transportation (DOT)/Occupational Safety and health Act (OSHA) and other Federal and State regulations.
Oversees personnel needs of the department including selecting, coaching, and training employees and evaluating employee performance. Provides input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.
Provides hands-on support to VP of Operations and VP of Fleet for business units struggling to meet BU metrics, conducting site assessments to identify areas for improvement, developing action plans, and offering training and resources to address challenges and enhance operational performance.
Analyze financial data to identify revenue reduction and margin improvement opportunities, assist BUs with P&L performance, and develop strategies to increase profitability. Lead P&L reviews, optimize capital utilization, communicate corporate pricing agreements, and identify new pricing strategies to protect and improve margins.
Assist with fixed asset management, legal, insurance, and real estate matters, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to address operational and financial needs across multiple functions.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
University diploma/degree in business or equivalent work experience required
Minimum 2 years in a Director of Ops role or 10 years as a /General Manager/District Manger role
Experience and strong knowledge in the waste management industry
Experience and strong knowledge of operating trucks and equipment
Proven leadership experience with the ability to influence
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Associate's Degree (accredited) or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 8 years of relevant work experience.
Years of Experience: 10 plus years of work experience (in addition to education requirement) in transportation, logistics, or solid waste operations in which coaching, routing assessments and leading employees.
