Description • Incumbent will perform duties as a Operating Room Assistant to include: patient care; blood products, specimens, and equipment transport; equipment maintenance, room readiness, restocking supplies, cleaning soiled supplies, storing and distributing anesthesia support materials. Other duties include, but are not limited to: customer service and departmental efficiencies. The OR Asst is under the direct supervision of the MSO, Charge Nurse or OR lead member. Assignments are given according to organizational goals.
Qualifications • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job: Ability to lift, carry, push or pull 50lbs. or more, constant (80-90% of the time). Dexterity to operate equipment. Communication skills to take direction or instructions. Ability to articulate with a diverse and multidisciplinary team. Awareness of potential exposure to injury of hazardous materials. Knowledge of disinfectants germicides, and sterilants. Knowledge of infection control, AORN, and AAMI standards related to job functions. Knowledge of government regulations: JCAHO, OSHA, Waste Management,. High school diploma required. BLS required. Hospital Operating Room experience preferred.
