We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Engineering Project Manager to design and lead automated material handling projects from conception to completion. The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background, project management experience, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution. This is a remote opportunity with travel to client sites.
Key Responsibilities:
Use 3D solid modeling software to design sorting system solutions for the parcel industry.
Use 3D scans of facilities in conjunction with 3D models to design material handling systems.
Produce 2D installation drawings from 3D models.
Build equipment manifests and compile detailed lists of parts for purchasing.
Manage and oversee automated material handling projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and on budget.
Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
Lead cross-functional teams, including engineers, designers, and technicians, to ensure project goals are met.
Coordinate with clients to define project requirements, deliverables, and expectations.
Identify and mitigate project risks while ensuring compliance with industry standards and company policies.
Prepare and present project status reports to stakeholders and senior management.
Oversee system integration, testing, and commissioning to ensure quality and performance standards are met.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement by implementing best practices and innovative solutions.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or a related field) OR significant industry experience designing conveyor systems for logistics companies such as UPS, Amazon, or FedEx.
5+ years of experience in engineering project management, preferably in automated material handling, manufacturing, or industrial automation.
Strong knowledge of automated material handling systems, robotics, PLCs, and industrial control systems.
Proficiency in AutoDesk Inventor and AutoCAD for conveyor system design.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
Proficiency in project management software (MS Project, Primavera, or similar tools).
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities.
Experience with budgeting, scheduling, and risk management in an engineering environment.
Willingness to travel (approximately 15%) during conveyor system installation.
