Job Description:
Primary Responsibility
Under the supervision of the designated supervisor, the Publications Project Coordinator and Designer is responsible for the end-to-end production of the campus schedules. This role involves project oversite; developing and writing copy for ads and features through research, interviewing, and coordination with various stakeholders; as well as performing a range of graphic design and layout functions. This position ensures the quality of messaging, visual appeal, and communication of information presented to the public in any promotional publications.
The position provides layout and graphic design for the campus class schedule and ensures this marketing piece is printed and mailed to residents as scheduled. This position works with campus instructional and marketing staff to facilitate this activity on an as-needed basis. Performs a range of visual and graphic arts functions. May use graphic design software to produce graphic art and visual materials for promotion, advertisement, packaging, and informative and instructional materials through a variety of media outlets.
*This is a part-time position which is limited to 28 hours per CMC's workweek. CMC's workweek is Saturday through Friday.
Pre-requisites for Position (Qualifications Standards)
Education and experience sufficient to meet the rigors of the position. Examples may include an Associates' degree in the area of graphic communication, marketing and three years of related experience or a closely related area or equivalent education and experience that will provide the necessary knowledge, skill and abilities to perform the functions of the position.
Degree/experience in in communications, marketing, media, or field related to the position responsibilities field preferred. Demonstrated understanding of marketing and communication skills and methods; excellent writing skills; understanding of effective communication; strong project management skills.
Special Skills or abilities directly applicable to the position: Demonstrated knowledge/ understanding of technical communication skills and methods; ability to write effective promotional copy for advertising; intermediate knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office programs; knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop and illustrator preferred.
Ability to: layout publications to maximize customer engagement; use software to produce publication-ready digital materials; develop communications to the community that effectively share the work of the college; ability to work independently and as a team member; and willingness to learn new technical and practical skills.

The hiring pay rate is $30.44 per hour. Benefits include retirement contribution, annual and sick time, mental health resources, and tuition benefit. CMC utilizes a wage progression compensation model that accounts for a candidate's skill and experience. Although a hiring rate is listed, this will be set commensurate with the successful candidate's qualifications and in compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act.

Special Conditions of Employment
Successful completion of a background check including a motor vehicles records report required. Incumbents in this position will adhere to all safety and compliance policies of Colorado Mountain College while performing all duties assigned.
Working Conditions
This position requires constant sitting, occasional walking, standing, and driving; occasional handling objects, pushing/pulling; frequent reaching with hands/arms, and use of finger movements; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling objects up to 50 lbs. Constant written and oral communication and the ability to reason and analyze and perform calculations occasionally. Work is performed using a computer and standard office equipment daily and driving a vehicle occasionally.
