We are seeking a Thermal Testing Engineer, Liquid Cooling to join the team.

Job Summary:

Our Platforms Team designs and builds advanced spray cooling technologies for the data center industry. In this role, you will design, evaluate, and optimize data center cooling systems, identifying product requirements and contributing to research and project planning. This is a specialized role that requires hands-on interaction with hardware equipment in an advanced liquid cooling test environment. You will be responsible for the development, testing, and optimization of engineering prototypes and demonstration systems, either in the lab or at customer sites. Your work will be guided by a comprehensive understanding of liquid cooling, thermal analysis, control optimization, and relevant system integrations.

Key Responsibilities:
• Validation & Optimization - Ensure that cooling system architectures meet customer-specific performance requirements, conducting rigorous thermal testing, validation, and optimization.
• Testing & Development - Develop test plans, test fixtures, and hardware/software configurations. Create and implement scripts for hardware manipulation and analyze/document thermal performance.
• Lab & External Testing - Conduct thermal testing at internal labs, external facilities, or with external vendors, leveraging team members and technical partners when necessary.
• Cross-functional Collaboration - Work closely with the Thermal Product Design team to improve thermal solutions, conduct system characterization, and refine cooling strategies.
• Technical Expertise & Troubleshooting - Familiarity with various cooling technologies and testing methodologies, with the ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve complex systems.
• Process Improvement - Develop and implement best testing practices, optimize test execution strategies, and design custom test fixtures to enhance engineering efficiency and data accuracy.
• Lab Management - Maintain lab space, tools, and materials, manage inventory of prototype devices, and enforce lab safety and housekeeping standards.
• Other tasks assigned.

Responsibilities in Detail
• Characterize and evaluate the thermal performance of high-power server, rack, cooling system, and sprayer designs, including components such as pumps, heat sinks, sprayers, thermal interface materials, and piping.
• Develop and execute comprehensive test plans and test strategies while ensuring timely completion of evaluations.
• Measure, simulate, analyze, and improve the thermal performance of hardware using various lab equipment and software tools.
• System Setup & Debugging - Install and configure Linux operating systems, firmware, and software tools, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and debug system-level performance challenges.
• Optimize testing environments by designing custom test fixtures for improved engineering efficiency and data accuracy.
• Oversee lab operations, including tool management, prototype inventory, and lab organization, while ensuring adherence to safety protocols.

Baci Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience in a thermal design/test technical environment, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.

Preferred Qualifications
• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
• Experience with computational thermal/mechanical simulation software and thermal analysis methodologies.
• Hands-on experience using electrical and hand tools for testing and assembly.
• Experience in thermal cooling technologies and developing test strategies and execution plans.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA), as well as large-scale deployment considerations.
• Strong software skills in MATLAB, LabVIEW, Python, Linux, shell scripting, or similar scripting languages.
• Experience with hyperscale air/liquid-cooled data center environments.
• Good communication skills with high level of attention to detail and accuracy in all work. • Passion in startup for long term achievement is desired.
