You're at an inflection point in your life and career and ready to make an impact in the community. As the Director of Events at Venture Dallas, you will project manage the details of each Venture Dallas event, including our annual conference, and you will help them grow. You will lead the organization's day-to-day operations and help deliver one of the most impactful events in the North Texas region.
What you will actually do:
Event Planning and Execution
? Develop and implement a comprehensive project plan for the annual conference & 2-4 additional events, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
? Serve as the primary point of contact for all event-related inquiries from attendees, speakers, sponsors, and partners.
? Coordinate all logistical aspects of the event, including utilizing a CRM system for communications, expense tracking for budget management, venue selection for conference and VIP events, speaker identification and coordination, content management for speakers, scheduling, and overall attendee experience.
Sponsor & Vendor Management
? Cultivate and maintain relationships with sponsors, ensuring fulfillment of sponsorship agreements and effective communication throughout the event planning process.
? Manage the annual budget and work with the fundraising committee to ensure our annual fundraising goals are achieved.
? Manage administrative activities and accounts, including bank accounts, domains, and filings, to maintain excellent standing with our partners and the government.
Marketing and Promotion
? Develop and execute a promotional strategy to maximize event attendance and engagement.
? Work with a marketing partner to oversee the creation of event materials, including programs, signage, and digital content. (Bonus if you are knowledgeable about Canva or Adobe programs to also help with asset creation).
? Utilize social media and other channels to generate buzz and attract a diverse audience.
You'll know if you're successful if....
? Our critical documents are always stored online, and our drive is organized so that others can easily access and navigate them.
? Our meetings run on time, and committee members have the agenda and know what's expected of them.
? Our events are planned with ample time to be successful and on the calendar at least 3-6 months in advance, and we accurately manage RSVP lists.
? Event set up and check-in are smooth, and the event runs on time and on budget.
? Our website and social media activity reflect the current and future state of Venture Dallas

We are a 501c6 non-profit, volunteer-led organization dedicated to growing the innovation ecosystem in North Texas. We believe North Texas is one of the best places to start and invest in emerging technology businesses. We work to help startup investors understand the opportunities in the region, connect them to high-growth companies, and build collaboration among our venture capital and investment community.
About You
? Colleagues you work with think you're hyper-organized and you obsess about the small details. You're a self-starter, highly motivated, and capable of working in a virtual environment and regularly attending in-person meetings and work events during the day.
? You have reliable transportation, computer, cell phone, and internet.
? You live near Dallas and are able to attend monthly meetings.
? You're in town and committed to working all of October and the annual conference in November.
? You are proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Powerpoint, and G-Suite, and you have experience working with CRMs.
? You are able to work as a 1099 independent contractor for up to a year, covering health and dental insurance
