The Concrete Place and Finish Superintendent oversees and manages all aspects of concrete placement, finishing, and curing operations. This role ensures projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards. The Superintendent is responsible for supervising field personnel, coordinating with project managers, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
Duties & Responsibilities: • Supervise and manage daily concrete placement and finishing activities on construction sites. • Plan, coordinate, and oversee workforce, equipment, and material requirements. • Ensure compliance with project specifications, safety regulations, and quality control standards. • Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and project schedules. • Train and mentor crew members, ensuring proper finishing techniques and best practices. • Inspect and monitor finished concrete surfaces for proper curing, durability, and appearance. • Coordinate with project managers, general contractors, and subcontractors to ensure workflow efficiency. • Maintain detailed records of work progress, labor, and material usage. • Identify and troubleshoot issues related to concrete placement and finishing. • Enforce company policies and OSHA safety regulations, conducting safety meetings as needed. • Ensure equipment is maintained and in proper working condition.
Education & Training: • High school diploma or GED required. • Associate or Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field preferred. • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in concrete finishing, including supervisory experience. • OSHA 30 certification preferred. • ACI (American Concrete Institute) certification is a plus. • Knowledge of industry-standard concrete materials, tools, and equipment.
Work Context: • Work primarily takes place on active construction sites with exposure to outdoor weather conditions. • Frequent interaction with project teams, subcontractors, and company leadership. • May require travel between job sites. • High-pressure environment with deadlines and safety compliance requirements. • Requires decision-making and problem-solving skills in fast-paced settings.
Physical Requirements: • Ability to stand, walk, and work for extended periods in a construction environment. • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. • Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and reaching. • Exposure to dust, loud noise, extreme temperatures, and hazardous materials. • Must have full range of motion and ability to operate heavy equipment if required.
