Position Summary:

The Staff Accountant role reports directly to the Accounting Manager and performs a variety of accounting duties to ensure the accurate and timely preparation and maintenance of department reports, ledgers, and journals.

The position serves an integral part in the month-end and year-end close activities including the preparation and analyzation of Balance Sheet reconciliations. This role will also assist with detailed reviews of various Income Statement accounts with necessary research and resolution of outstanding reconciling items in a timely manner.

Job Responsibilities:


  • Maintain, Reconcile & Forecast Cash - prepare, monitor & track daily cash flows & forecasts.
  • Maintain & Reconcile Fixed Assets - record all entries associated with the capitalization, depreciation & disposals of assets; track expenditures; propose & implement process improvements.
  • Administer the company Master Card program and Concur electronic expense system.
  • Maintain the hierarchy & integrity of the general ledger and the company's chart of accounts.
  • Reconcile Balance Sheet Accounts - process routine & recurring journal entries, ensure accuracy of prepaids & accruals, understand & explain account variances.
  • Assist with preparation, execution & wrap-up of period, quarterly & annual closings.
  • Commit to "continuous improvement" by endeavoring to bring new ideas/solutions to business process obstacles.
  • Partner with leadership for budgeting, accounting systems reporting & acquisitions.
  • All other duties as assigned by Director of Accounting.

Qualifications and Education Requirements :


  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • 2+ years' experience in accounting environment

Background & Other (preferred):


  • Ability to work without direct supervision and demonstrate considerable initiative
  • Strong analytical & communication skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and intermediate Excel skills a must; experience with JD Edwards software a plus
  • Ability to work accurately under time constraints, meet deadlines & effectively handle multiple projects or tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to collaborate with senior management and cross-functional teams
